This has been a full couple of days! I took a few minutes Wednesday morning early to post - that was good, because I was up late last night getting ready for the shower tonight for N.L., and working on computer problems! I don't know what is wrong with my laptop - it won't connect to the wireless network here at home. I hopped that if I would finally leave it alone last night (I mean early this morning - oh, I mean yesterday morning) that it would wake up in the morning feeling better, and be nice to me... however it didn't work!
Brad is still in North Carolina at a marketing seminar/networking group with Mr. Hardison's group. He left Tuesday morning, and won't be home until Saturday morning.
I have had so many miracles in the past two days. I need to list them!
1. Wednesday night after pack meeting, I was able to sneak away with all of Jr. team to go to the hardware store to get the wood to cut out to make the flowers for Noelle's shower. On a prayer, I decided to stop in next door at Michael's crafts and pick up a few other things, and while there I checked to see if they had the flowers I was going to have to cut out because I had only managed to find about 20, and gave 15 away (3 each to 5 women) to our "Administrative Professionals" (politically correct for secretaries) on Tuesday at their luncheon - to which Brad was absent, and kindly left for me to handle. (The flowers were really cute! I'll take a picture and post here!) When I checked at Michaels - Surprise! They had 71 just waiting for me! My Heavenly Father had them there, I just had to do my part, and have the faith to pray for a miracle that somehow I would be able to get them done, and try! There they were! Thank you Heavenly Father!
I made Sr. team stay up until midnight getting them painted so that I wouldn't have to start completely at the beginning - however what a miracle that I didn't have to start with tracing them onto the boards, to then have to cut them out! We were able to get them all painted before we finally dropped into bed very late! Sr. team was really tired! Thanks Jed, Liesl & Chandler! I sure love you!
2. I was worried because I thought we had a group gift being taken care of by someone else, and I was just going to have to find out where to pick it up. However, Wednesday afternoon, on top of the many other problems I was dealing with (office typing problems, computer problems, new equipment to install and setup, issues with our business loan and $27K in taxes I had to pay last week, shower food, shower gifts, shower thank you gifts, pack meeting details, basketball games for Chandler & Jed, in-laws dropping in with their friends, wow I don't want to think about any more!) I learned that N. had ordered her own stroller, and that we had to come up with something else to give her for the group gift at the shower with some 108 people invited to on Thursday night. I had collected some $140+ towards a shower gift, and so now what? I woke up with an idea! I would just put all the money in a vase with silk flowers, and use the money as the rocks/pebbles in the bottom, and then I would make her a plaque and have everyone sign the plaque and give her the cash to pay for the stroller she ordered for herself! That was a revelation! I had the plaque and I had an idea of what to do to prepare for Thursday night!
3. I realized that the plaque I needed was already started! When Jakob was born, Katie made a plaque for me that reads: "Cooking and scrubbing can wait for tomorrow, for babies grow up we've learned to our sorrow, so quiet down cobwebs, and dust go to sleep, I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep!" She had cut the vinyl for an extra one, and just felt like she was supposed to bring it to me! That was 18 months ago! How long ago did God start working on that miracle that I would need... 17 months later? That was a miracle that I had the vinyl!
4. The next miracle was that I didn't get out of the house until 3:30 because I was solving problems about computers at the office. I should count that as a miracle! Katie was able to receive her first transcription from the office. She is going to work from home for us - typing transcription. I sent this message yesterday, but something was wrong on her computer, and we finally got it fixed, and she received the message. Yea! Miracles!
5. So when I left the house at 3:39 p.m. - I called Katie (whom I had only recently hung up with on office/computer issues). I asked if she had a secret about where to buy metal pieces. She didn't know. I had feeling I should go to Top Gun. I drove out there (Santa Clara) and walked into the shop. The gentleman said - "You're in luck! I just happen to have someone here right now that could cut that metal for you!" He walked me back into the shop. The young man had a stack of metal pieces he was moving, when he was asked if he would cut some metal for me. I had the vinyl piece I needed, he laid it on the top of the metal in his hands - it was nearly perfect! I went in to ask if I could have 11x23, and literally the piece he was holding was 11 x 24! He quickly cut ONE INCH (1") off one side, and handed me the metal. The older gentleman insisted that I not pay for it, but I left them a $5.00 tip, and ran out to Liesl and Jr. team in the car, smiling, singing thank you very much to my Heavenly Father for a miracle!
6. Next stop was Home Depot for the MDF to mount that metal to. Yep - they had a piece that was cut down to 24x48 so it would only require a little trimming for me - it would fit easily in my car, and was less than $5. with tax! Miracle!!!
7. I had a few more stops still, expecting to find what I needed, and did. Made it home late however - not until 5:49! I was stressed! Miracles happen !!! :-) With Liesl's help, Sam's help, Brinley's help, Sara's help, Jakob's help in being happy and out of the way; Jed and Chandler showed up between their basketball games (what good kids I am blessed to have) we were able to finish the flowers, cut the sign out, drill the holes, paint the sign, clean the house final clean for the shower, get the food out for the shower, and finish the sign, and then...
8. People came to the shower! That is always a miracle in and of it's self! I think we had about 40 adults here (about 25 from our neighborhood, and then both sides of her family), and then we had about that many kids too. That's a pretty good shower! Our vase of flowers was darling - stuffed clear full! G.L. helped me so much - she stuffed all the money in, and then she had to cut the stems really short because she couldn't get them in, and didn't want to tear the money! It looked cute! The sign was darling, and everyone signed around the border! The flowers were fabulous! The dessert "fruity rocky road" with 2 kinds of sherbet, a gallon of vanilla, rasberries, blue berries, strawberries, sugared almonds, marshmellows, and coconut all mixed together, and refrozen - served in waffle bowls - which was a miracle too! They HAD them at Albertsons! I bought 60 a few days ago, when I "just happened" to see them - NOT! That was a miracle! I bought all they had! We only used 30, but I would have stressed if I had any less! I have looked at two other grocery stores since, and not found them at all! Miracles just for me!
Thank you Heavenly Father! Today you helped me have the abilities equal to my tasks! Thank you for inspiring me, directing me, guiding me, and carring me when I didn't think I could ever possibly get it done, and past the point of fatigue! I will find that quote from scripture study about fatigue and post it here tomorrow! Tonight I am past the point of fatigue, but grateful to count miracles from God! Thanks Heavenly Father! I love you!
