I received a new church calling today. They didn't release me from the other two ward callings yet, but I have reason to believe that will happen. Today I was sustained as the YW Personal Progress Specialist. I am not sure how I feel about this. It didn't help any when I googled this title in the middle of the night to find this on lds.org:
Who Can Help with Personal Progress?
The following people can help young women with Personal Progress:
Parents or other family members
Young Women presidency and advisers
Priesthood leaders
Other young women and class presidencies
With the revision of the Personal Progress program in 2002, Personal Progress specialists are generally thought to be unnecessary. For specific ideas on who can help with Personal Progress, see the interactive lessons Care for Each Girl, Get Help from Others, Modify Goals to Individual Needs.
So, needless to say, I'm not real worried. Sure I can help keep track of the progress of the YW towards their award. Is that all this will be?
In the meantime, had a great day in the nursery today with my three young men. They are cute, and we had no problems today. G.L. was there and it was fun to visit with her. We know we are isolated, but that was fine today, I enjoyed the visit! Thanks G!
Today B. gave a talk in Primary. We found pictures of the life cycle of a caterpillar and butterfly. This was her talk:
I love spring time! I love to watch as the trees grow leaves again and the flowers pop their heads out of the ground. I love the freshness, the newness of spring!
One thing I love to watch in the spring is butterflies! I love to find eggs on the leaves for some type of little animal that is going to hatch. This is a picture of eggs of a caterpillar. They are laid on the perfect kind of leaf by their mother. One day, they develop enough to hatch. They emerge from this little round speck as a new form of life. Just like we came from our mothers into this world!
These eggs are caterpillar eggs. They will hatch into a caterpillar that will look something like this.
As caterpillars, these little creatures grow and expand. They have lessons they must learn, experiences they will need to prepare them for the future. They eat, and sleep, growing each day to become what our Heavenly Father wants them to become!
After a time here on earth, the caterpillars prepare for the next step in their journey. We too are eating, sleeping, preparing for the blessings that our Heavenly Father has for us. After a time as a caterpillar, this little creature knows it must prepare for the next step in their life. The caterpillar spins a cocoon. It looks like it is dead! It isn’t!
Jesus Christ followed a similar experience. He was born here on this earth as a baby. He ate, and slept, growing and becoming what his Heavenly Father wanted him to become! Then there came a time when he was put to death. He was crucified on the cross, and appeared to be dead. They placed his body in a tomb, and many believed that his life was over. He was dead.
Just like this cocoon, he was not gone forever! One day this cocoon will break open and out will come a butterfly! When Jesus came out of his cocoon, he didn’t look different, but he was! He was an immortal being, never to die again! His body had been quickened, changed just like the butterfly. He was beautifully prepared to live with his Father for all eternity!
By following the example of Jesus Christ, we will be able to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus again!
I know that my family and I will be resurrected; we will come to life after we have died, and be reunited with our ancestors! I can’t wait to see my Grandma Mary, Grandma Orla, Grandma and Grandpa Jensen, Farfar, and Farmor again! I love them, and I love my Savior Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Parents. I am thankful for the beautiful plan they set in motion for me to became a princess in their kingdom for eternity.
Good Job B! I am grateful that we have the Gospel to help us understand these principals! You never know when your faith will be challenged, especially regarding death and life hereafter! I am thankful to know this to help me through those hard times!
Speaking of...
Tonight C.W.'s horse Poko passed away. L. was over there until late last night, and she was up before I was this morning, leaving a note on my floor that she had gone to relieve C. to walk Poko for a while. She loves C! I am so grateful for the friendship they share! L. is kindhearted, loving, pure, and gentle. She has a very soft heart for animals and tonight was hard for her!
I was gone to meetings regarding EFY, and then to be set apart for this new calling, and when I came home, S.C. was in tears about Poko. I took him right over! We enjoyed a nice visit with the B.& C. W. They are salt of the earth kind of people - good all the way through! Thanks for your fabulous examples! We love you!
