Spring Time Celebrations

Conference Sunday April 2009 B.H. Family

Holy Week 2009 - We've almost missed it!
I'm trying to figure out where all my time has gone lately, and I honestly don't know! That can't be good!

I am in the mist of several rather large projects, and I work on each one every day trying to prepare so when they get here I'll be ready. My clipboard is full to overflowing, and I hope I don't drop the seemingly abundant amount of balls I am juggling at the moment!

Tuesday night L. and I had the opportunity to attend a concert by Dr. A., one of her piano professors (and private instructor) at the college. It was a great concert, and I was very impressed with her talent, and even more her ability to memorize music! Wow! As we sat there, I wondered how many thousands of hours she had sat in the little practice rooms, locked in all by herself, playing such beautiful music, sadly with no one able to appreciate the beauty she was creating! What a waste! I don't wish that for L.! She is a great musician, however, I want her to interact with others, and to share her talents, not locking them up to host a showcase of herself to have only a few hand fulls of people show up to hear. I want to find a place where L. could go to practice (still!) but where it would bless lives - i.e. the Sr. Center, or a medical tower where people are waiting to see a physician. I don't know, even the post office that ALWAYS has a line! How beautiful it would be to have a paino in a restaurant where you could go to practice, and bless the lives of those around! I want to contact the local music store, and see what they would want to consider placing the paino someplace with their sign on it advertising their music store. I am sure they will want something to subsidize it, I wonder if I could get people do donate to help fund it? (One more project I should take on. Should I?) Then I need to address the sign up of times to use it. L. always as to sign up in advance for a practice room. I have to believe this would a more popular place to practice if it was available!? Suggestions? Ideas?

I have also given many hours to Cub Scouts lately. Why Scout? I appreciate rubbing shoulders with good people - many in scouting are! I believe it is a good program which blesses many lives for good including the future families of the boys! I now serve on the Boy Scout Advancement Board, and so I am asked to help with Eagle project reviews weekly on Wednesday nights (I have only made it a couple of times a month). I am still teaching the Cub Commissioner class breakout at Roundtable (last night). And I was asked to be the Cub Commissioner. It is this last one that I am struggling with of late as we try to organize a Cub Activity for the Cub Scouts in the fall! This is taking hours and hours of time of late. I am also helping with the opening ceremonies for the upcoming Dixie Scout Expo on the 25th of April. It will be awesome! We are organizing a food booth there for the Jamboree scouts to earn some money. We have ordered a Frazil machine for them to sell these Slurpee like drinks, and we'll have cookies, ice cream bars, etc. there. Brad is also putting on a booth with RC cars at the Expo for the boys to drive out in the field to the East of the Dixie Center. This is an event they begin planning for a year in advance. Many, many hours of time have been put into making this event the best it has ever been. Wow, scouting has filled many days lately!

Add all this to C. playing on the border league team for Dixie with two games on Wednesday and practice 4 days a week. He is also working on a Health Class through BYU Highschool that has issues about human reproducation that we have been doing together lately. I am sooo grateful that we can learn this together rather than in a public school classroom! I am grateful to have him home!

Taxes due for the office and personal coming soon. This has taken me several sleepless nights preparing for, but I finally believe I have all the accounts ready to turn in this morning!

Reading lessons and school work with three elementary students, S. B. & S.! I love you jr team!

And... a two year old who has been throwing up all over for a long time now! We don't really know what's going on with J.. Last week several on Jr. team caught a flu bug. J. had it first, and then the girls each had their turn. I almost dread the sundown because somehow there is so much happening during the day, but we try to rest at night, and realize that is just a dream! For a couple of days now, I have eliminated all flour from J.'s diet. He hasn't thrown up during the night for two days - wow! I think he only threw up once yesterday.:) Needless to say, the washer is going as we speak! It has been round the clock recently!

Today we are headed to SLC. We are supposed to have dinner tonight at the H's (it is G.H.'s b-day on Sunday but we don't think he will be there tonight because he has to work - we tried). Then up to the P.M.'s baptism on Saturday. Sunday is Easter, and we need to be home by 4:00 for B's commitments at the stake. I think we are going to drive home after the baptism Saturday evening. It will be a quick trip. It snowed again this week, so the flower beds really aren't ready to work in, and I can't plant the garden there yet - soon!

We did get our garden here in St. George planted finally this week for FHE. I bought big tomato plants from Costco the end of the week last week. We can't wait to eat Bacon & Tomato sandwiches! It won't be long! :)

So somehow spring is flying by! I don't want to miss it! I did get a run in a couple of days this week. I love to be outside and watch the sunrise over the earth, especially when it is all just coming to life again! The grass is green, the flowers are blooming, the birds are singing in the trees! Life is good! God knows and loves us. I am thankful to take a minute to count my blessings!
