Beautiful Sight! News worthy!

I have to admit, it is beautiful to drive down Pioneer Parkway and see all those trees! It is fun to see a bright red fire hydrant standing proudly on the corner! Petroglpyh park looks 100 times better! I haven't driven out to the RV park since Sunday, I will this morning to see how the trees there are doing! Our community looks great! I don't know if the arena is reassembled in it's new location yet, but it was well on it's way to being rearranged on Saturday afternoon. Thank you scouts for all your hard work!

I have not had opportunity to speak with representatives of the Boy Scouts of America this week since our project. I don't know how they feel about what has been said or done in the past week. I can't believe they would be upset about an Eagle Scout working hard pictured on the front page of the newspaper. I can't believe they would feel poorly about the press coverage that has been given generously to the Eagles who worked so hard over the past weeks! I am grateful for all the positive articles and comments! Yesterday in the paper this beautiful tribute was in the opinion section titled Tremendous Effort. That is exactly what has taken place in this community, a 'Tremendous Effort' to help young men rise to the occasion to do so many positive things in their community! I appreciated mid day finding young men out working on their trees, advertising for a car wash to raise money to purchase what... ties for trees for this community! I don't know of another way to have accomplished so much good! Thousands and thousands of hours, donations, and tears have been given in the good name of service to community via the Boy Scouts of America and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Thank you friends!

I am grateful this morning to have (most of) my garage cleaned out, and all the shades and water jugs returned. I regret that we had one shade that didn't get taken down that was broken. I hate to borrow things, just because I hate to return damaged equipment! I gave them a check for the broken shade, that doesn't replace it. Please accept my apologies.

Years from now, we will look back and remember the day as positive!

I note that I have only referenced the quotes about trees in one place, oh, well, I found this great quote about Mormon's and their trees.... loved it!

Wallace Stegner wrote:
"Perhaps it is fanciful to judge a people by its trees. Probably the predominance of poplars is the result of nothing more interesting than climatic conditions or the lack of other kinds of seeds and seedlings. Probably it is pure nonsense to see a reflection of Mormon group life in the fact that the poplars were practically never planted singly, but always in groups, and that the groups took the form of straight lines and ranks. Perhaps it is even more nonsensical to speculate that the straight, tall verticality of the Mormon trees appealed obscurely to the rigid sense of order of the settlers, and that a marching row of plumed poplars was symbolic, somehow, of the planter’s walking with God and his solidarity with his neighbors."

Define Solidarity - A union of interests, purposes, or sympathies among members of a group; fellowship of responsibilities and interests. An identity or coincidence of interests, purposes or sympathies among the members of a group: oneness, union, unity.

What a great thought to realize that every time you see those trees standing together, we can remember the oneness, the unity with which this community came together to work hard and labor along side each other! Our nation may be struggling, but in recent weeks, I have rolled up my sleeves along side young men who are ready for the tasks ahead! I have stood beside men of great education with shovels in hand, willing to sweat and labor to carry a noble cause ahead! I have shared a drink of water, sensing the need for water, even living water in the life of every tree, every young man, every soul on this earth! I am grateful for the living water of my Savior who stands at the head, who knows every tree, sees every boy, and desires our every success! He lives and loves us! He is grateful to see us labor together for common good! I have seen this abundantly in recent weeks! Thank you friends who have truly "Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel and PUSHED!"

I need to note that on Tuesday night we had another eventful evening, delivering flags for our neighborhood, drilling holes so they can have a flag for the coming flag day (sure one more project!)! I had just returned home, and was responding to a problem, hurrying to prepare for a party J decided to have here at our home that evening ("8ish" is what I heard him tell his friends!) when I heard at the front door beautiful voices of young people singing "Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel!" That was the line I quoted to the boys Saturday morning as we closed our prayer meeting to set in motion the final stage of this massive effort of preparing and moving into the implementation of the Youth Conference Service Project. It still gives me the chills to think of the power of the spirit that morning when I so needed His help! I looked at those young men in their Scout uniforms, having just met with them regarding logistics and timing of it all, when Brad shared the above quote, and I quickly add my two cents worth. It was awesome!

Anyway, these beautiful young voices brought back all those recent memories, and then I heard my little ones, announcing to me that the door was for me. I hurried and found the young women from our ward there with dinner for my family... not just for one night, but several to put into the freezer! Spaghetti sauce, Mushroom & Cream sauce, cookie dough ready, brownie mix in a bag... it was soo nice of them! Thank you young women! Thank you for your help on Saturday, and now these delicious meals to feed my family! You are so wonderful! Thank you! Speaking of "walking with God and his solidarity with his neighbors" I am so abundantly blessed! Miracles on every front! Thank you YW! Thank you YW leaders for helping young people see opportunities to serve! Wow! Thank you!
