Learning, Growing, Strengthening!

I love to learn and grow! Today I found this link to the handouts from Women's Conference at BYU a few weeks ago. I link it here so I can find it to use them for FHE and personal study. I am grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! I know that I am a Daughter of Heavenly Parents! This week I sat in a parking lot and watched people for a short time while I waited for B. to do a little shopping on our way home. As we sat there, I watched as many came from the store, old and young. Many of the old don't smile. The young don't dress modestly. Then came one family - a Dad carrying a little one dressed in long sleeves and long pants, followed closely by a young boy and his mother. They were all dressed modestly, and smiled as they watched the Dad spin and play with the little one in his arms. I noticed how this family group stood out in today's world. I believe that as a member of the Church I stand out as different as well! Often in public places, I notice others watching my family and I. I am so grateful to be a part of such a beautiful picture! BTW: It is picture perfect, but it doesn't just happen! Family life takes lots of work. It means putting the needs of others first. It means having faith and moving forward in ways that I don't always see how it can go forward.

Today's Time Magazine article talks about Mormons and Gay Rights. As a people, we have been tested. The parable of the 10 Virgins, and having oil in their lamp is happening. I saw it as that family walked out of the store. They have the oil in their lamps, unafraid of the wind that is blowing, the storm that is raging outside their bubble. I too hope I can withstand the storms of the world, and practice my religion, stand for the values of family, integrity, charity, that my Savior stood for 2000 years ago.
