4th of July Miracles

This date in American History marks millions of uncounted miracles! I am so grateful to have the opportunity to live in a place where we can gather to dedicate a flag, opening with prayer, saluting the flag of freedom, singing the songs of praise we choose. The many many blessings we enjoy!

I need to record a few more miracles just for me today! I noted a few days ago the miracle of the t's for the race. This morning we were doing registration, and one of the runners there to registered said something about how cool the shirts were to which L and I grinned our secret grateful miracle, and she asked if we were fortunate enough to get them for the $1. I replayed quietly that yes we had (because we were charging her $20 to run the race today). She went on to explain that she is the general manager for Old Navy locally, and that yesterday (the day!) a little before noon, employees from the store had called her concerned. They explained that they had been overriding the price on the shirts all morning. You see, when I was there yesterday they had to enter all 100+ shirts twice because the computer froze with all the overrides (she was almost done and it froze!). ugh! Then they broke the transaction into about fifths and did the overrides manually once again! We got to Old Navy about 8:40 a.m. to wait for it to open, and we didn't leave until 10:30, and we spent most of that time waiting for them to manually enter the $1. price. Well when they called this general manager regarding the problem, she said she would make a call and find out why it wasn't recording the right price, at which time she learned that the headquarters had determined to NOT offer the shirts for that price until the end of the month, and they weren't to sell any more at that price! Wow! She said all the customers in the line took them back because they could no longer override the price. She explained that the employees were distraught about this couple that had bought more than 100 shirts, all for that wrong price, to which this manager just said "I hope they went to a good cause!" She totally agreed they had gone to a good cause, in fact, she brought me back a coupon for $5 off my next purchase for shopping at Old Navy. How cool! So, the miracle was really a huge miracle just for me! They didn't sell any more shirts for that price! Wow!

Other miracles just for me...

Last night at the flag raising ceremony, we showed up at about 6:30 p.m. to set up our sound system and prepare for the evening program which was to begin at 8:30. The wind was really blowing, and the dedication was being held on site which is along side a vacant lot owned by a gentleman who now lives out of state. When we pulled in, the dust blowing off that lot was choking! The storm clouds were brewing in the South, exactly the direction the winds were blowing from. The miracle was that B.M. came over and said that she had prayed for no rain, but that she had not prayed for no wind. She didn't realize what a problem that could pose raising a big flag with the dust, sound problems, etc. Together we looked at the storm clouds, and prayed for a miracle. The miracle was that the winds settled down just enough to stop the dust. It was a nice breeze, just enough to make the flag float through the wind! It originally was blowing from the South where the lightening was cracking all evening when they pulled the flag up, but during the last 15 minutes of the program, the wind changed from the South West to the North East. It totally turned directions! Everyone commented on that at the end! To recognize the scope of this miracle, we all had the spirit bear witness to us of the importance of the flag, and the beauty of this country as the flag went up it is 15x25' and it got caught (folded over itself) against the pole, until... it was about 1/2 up the pole, when the wind caught the beautiful red white and blue fabric, and pulled itself free all just as the sun was tucking away beyond the horizon at the end of another beautiful day! It was a wow as the lights caught that flag blowing in the breeze, the bugler playing his music, the American Legion group and the Boy Scouts standing at attention at the base of the pole! It was a huge Wow!

Two nights ago, J was in bed and as I went to tuck him in, he commented that he was surprised at how often this one scripture is repeated. He was reading D&C section 8 I believe, and he came to the verse "Ask and ye shall receive." I was just kissing him for the night, when he pointed out that same counsel was in nearly every one of the first eight sections of the D&C! Wow, that is the case every day in my life!
