Happy Pioneer Day!

July 24th is just another day to most of the world, but to citizens of the great state of Utah, this day is a holiday! On July 24th, 1847 the pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley, and declared: "This is the Place!" They had been pushed from their homes on several occasions, and when they finally heard their prophet, Brigham Young declare that this was the place they could stop and settle, I am certain they celebrated! On this day in the state of Utah, our state government enjoys a holiday, and we are grateful to not have anyone in our immediate family who works in retail. We enjoyed a holiday today!

This morning, J got up pretty early, and he went with B to the Super 64 tournament in Vegas. They had to be there by 9 Vegas time (which means 10 our time).

Prayers are certainly answered there, J and I have been talking about J's plans for the coming year, praying about it, discussing it with several people. In the end, I feel that he should go live in our Fox Hunt home, and go to school. Yes, he could stay here at go to Dixie, however I think he is ready for something new. I have long ago ruled out BYU because we missed the entry date, however I realize this week that if they would recruit J to play, they would get him admitted! :) I don't know if I can even hope to really get that. On the other hand, I think it would be fun for him to go live at Fox Hunt, and go to school at like UVU. I believe that is what they called it today, Utah Valley University because it was granted four year status recently.
