The Race is Coming!

We're tired tonight, we got up early this morning to go work on the trail for the 5K race on Saturday morning. The trail feels much better tonight, we will go over tomorrow for a walk through in the light, we just barely got home (10:44 p.m.) and it's hard to tell in the dark how it really looks, but it is much better!

We worked early and late, but through the middle of the day B. was at work, J. helped C.G. in the front yard work, and L. & C. cleaned stalls at C.J.'s where their horses are now.

I picked up coupons, gift certificates, fliers, magazines, chap stick, samples, etc. etc. for the swag bags we will stuff tomorrow for the runners. We originally hoped we would have 200 runners, it looks like we will be lucky to have 100.

Miracles of today - there are MANY! 1st - we Literally MOVED MOUNTAINS! Part of the trail goes under the freeway in the rocks, on a narrow dirt path. Tonight, that path is much better, but it took a lot of sweat, cheering, work! My whole family has been over there tonight working very late. Some of those boulders were huge! Inch by inch, we moved them out of the way to make the trail wider and safer.
2nd - Because I went to Wood Badge, I didn't get the order for shirts turned in last week when I was supposed to. I have felt bad all week as runners call interested in learning about the race, to have to tell them that we weren't doing shirts. Monday, I called about the shirts to learn that if we were doing less than 200 the price doubled to $8.50/shirt. We had been quoted $4.15 previously. I opted that even though it was still possible to get them, we couldn't afford to do them at that price. Today I found some dark blue (a hot color) shirts at Sportsman's Warehouse for $6.99/each and asked the manager if he could match the $4.15 price since they were really a huge advertisement for his store. He called back, but it was later this evening, and I haven't had the opportunity to call him back, I will in the morning. This change of events however, led me to stop by Old Navy to see if they had a plain white shirts with a cute flag on the front. Guess what.... they did! Today their price was $5.00/each. I once again found a manager to help me, and asked if she could match the $4.15/shirt price. She was trying to figure out if should could when she said quietly, "If you wait until in the morning they will be a dollar each." I had to ask her to repeat it! I had heard correctly! Tomorrow they go on sale for $1.00! Wow! I am so excited! That is a direct answer to my prayer!

3rd - so while I was talking this week about ideally what I wanted in the swag bags, I included a granola bar (which I don't have yet), a sample something, and a chap stick along with the fliers... etc. whatever. I got brave, and after calling several places that we believe have had chap sticks before, and asking for them to donate 100, we had been turned down. I had this feeling to ask J to stop at Rite Aid. Honestly I have only been in there once! We went in and found that their brand chap stick was $1./tube. I found a manager, and asked her to split the cost of them with me to act as advertising in the swag bags. She promptly agreed that should could do that! Wow! Ask and you shall receive! I am so grateful I was prompted to ask today! The next stop was at the Chamber of Commerce for some fliers of something. After a miracle of an old friend S. previously from KCSG heard that the man who had been helping me was on the phone, she stepped out to see if she could help whomever was out there, and she immediately took us into the room that the gentleman had denied had anything pertinent in! I knew there was a room full of that kind of literature, but he didn't want to let me in there. Well, not only was there tons of great literature (we left with two boxes full!!!) but there was a big bowl full of gum samples. J. was with me, and he asked if we could have those samples for the bags, to which S. immediately said "Please take them! They have been here for soooo long!" Gladly! Thanks for listening to the spirit to know we would be in, we would need help getting around the volunteer, and to find the resources fabulous! Thank you H.F. for so many miracles! I know when I ask I receive! Thank you!

Yes, I love to watch for miracles! I saw several today but these were my favorites! Thank you!
