With the fabulous, tireless, wonderful help of... B, J, L, C, S, B, S, and J, and my most awesome Dad, V.P. we made it through! I also need to thank all 27 volunteers who came through who came out to help for not just a little while, but for five hours of solid cubs!! We had more than 280 registered, and approximately 249 show up plus their leaders to the activity on Friday. Wow! Weather was great - minus a dirt devil that blew through (someone was upset he wasn't invited!) and blew over the sound system, breaking the switch on the control panel - it now won't turn on! B is sad. I hope to get it fixed quickly for him, but it won't be without a price, which will come from money he earned for our family. Thank you B for being so good about supporting, giving, loving, serving with your whole heart, might, mind and strength! I love you!
So many miracles! Nails just the right size. Hammers worked out. Great watermelon right on the right day - cold and ready! Enough helpers even with the few who backed out last minute! Sound system for the opening even after I thought it was hopeless - we didn't have the right cords to plug it together or an Ipod with any battery left - but J showed up right in time with all the missing parts!! There were many, many miracles worked for me that night! I testify of the power of prayer! Our Heavenly Father hears and answers them when we ask in faith! Thanks Father for miracles just for me!
I must say it was so fun to see the darling tool boxes in the firm grips of proud cub scouts after they built them! Several mornings of early up, and hot, sweaty work, but they were so cute!
The cub mobiles were a HIT! The boys loved them! J & C P. built one for roundtable last month, and they brought that one, but then the boys managed to put together 8 others during the course of the activity! They were great! We told the packs they could check them out for their pack meetings, and we have them booked for more than a month and a half worth of pack meetings as of tonight. We held races in the parking lot after closing ceremonies, and none of the boys wanted to leave! They had a good time with them!
Budget wise, I am so grateful for the abundance we have been given! I hope that I can continually do my best to give back to Him for ALL that he gives to me! I went over on my budget in the end for Cubstruction (by the time we built the jigs for the tool boxes, and bought all the parts, bolts and nuts for the cub mobiles it cost more like $10.50/boy instead of the $10 we charged) and for the Shooting Sports (we bought three new bows and 130 new arrows for the cubs and then didn't have enough boys sign up to pay for them - so we paid the $100 over personally), however I am so grateful that B just says, "it's part of putting on!" I am so fortunate that he does not get upset about those types of things. He has faith in the goodness and kindness of God, and reminds me that we will be blessed ten fold for all we are willing to give!
