I am up to my ears in Cubstruction Project this week preparing for 300 Wolfs and Bears to come on Friday afternoon from 3-8. We cut out 330 tool box kits last week with my wonderful Dad! This week I have been trying to catch up from being out of town for a week, and trying to gather all that I need, visit all 24 volunteers coming to help, and make sure we are ready for Friday.
We are dividing the boys into two large groups - Wolfs and Bears, and then into smaller color groups, giving them an apron that J.A. dyed for us into 10 colors! Thanks J! Then we will send them through 10 stations including...
Make & Take Toolbox
Build a Plan! Soccer/Football game with two groups
Is it Level?
Name that Tool!
Carpenter - Guest Speaker
Can you Cook it? Dinner
Hold Fast Fasteners!
Wise or Foolish - Candy Houses for the Wolfs and Cub Mobiles for the Bears
Construction Crew - Service time.
Each session will be 25 minutes with NO transition time - I want teachers to begin as soon as the boys arrive and not wait for the 5 minutes to be sure everyone gets there. I have printed schedules, talked to volunteers, and am gathering all the details for each station! Wow! I have a great team! Thanks family!
J has continued to visit with coaches at Southern Virginia and Houghton College in NY. Yesterday we decided that he will go back there with B a week from Monday and visit each college, to make an informed decision of what he wants to do. We have talked to the coaches, poured over the admissions papers, visited with the academic counselors, ordered transcripts. What a process! He should be soon admitted to both colleges, and they are both working a schedule for him. They would both LOVE to have him, but I am the one holding on... NOT MY Little BOY! This is his dream come true! He will most likely start for both teams. We have determined that according to plan, he will have one or possibly two semesters left to finish when he returns from his mission to complete, but due to transferring rules, he will most likely have to finish at the school he begins at! That means this decision is one that will carry weight for the next four years... no pressure!
L on the other hand! Wow! She and I were up past... late the other night working on her schedule. She has determined that she doesn't care about the High School classes. She has worked a plan to get her Associate of Science Degree by the time she is 16 1/2! Wow! She then found an Integrated Studies BA degree available at Dixie State where you custom design your own program with two focuses! She was already headed in these two directions - Music and Information Technology! She could very well have her BA done by the time she is 19! We didn't continue to map out every quarter through the end, but she is amazing - smiling - laughing at the possibilities and when questioned about it... she shrugs her shoulders and says "WHY NOT?" Giggling! Wow! You go girl!
These are the days of my life - I am loving every one of them, realizing all too fast they will be quieter, not nearly as exciting, possibly even boring (This is almost a swear word in my home - if caught saying it... YOU clean the Bathrooms! The kids would all gasp at hearing me say it!)! In the mean time, I am grateful to get the washing machine fixed! We have two weeks of laundry and the repairman just showed up! YEA! It's the Little things in life! :)
