The cutest part of all day yesterday was late in the afternoon when I was reading with S! We live in a beautiful place where the sun shines 350 days a year and the weather is... perfect especially in October! The sky is the bluest blue you can imagine, and the temperatures yesterday were about 78 mid afternoon! It was a beautiful afternoon, and S and I were on the back porch having reading lessons! I love to have reading lessons with my kids! I put my arm around their shoulder and listen to them figure out the world!
S and I have been reading together a long time family Halloween favorite.. "The Blue-Nosed Witch!" We were taking turns reading one paragraph at a time - it is fast enough that it keeps him coming back for more, and he gets engaged in the story, loving reading success! Great for a nine year old, fabulous young man! Well, on page 36-38 this is what it says: (Click on the pages to open them bigger)
How true it is! When we concentrate on our Savior, and set goals, willing to work towards them, then... "I think how high I need to fly, and that's all there is to it!" Can we concentrate enough on the Savior that we can fly? Immediately after S read those lines, B & S jumped up, ran to the kitchen, and grabbed the brooms! Little girls were jumping off the rocks, concentrating hard! It was so cute, I asked S to go get the camera. He did, but found it with the battery dead! It was so darling, sorry I'll have to remember!
For FHE last night we watched Elder Bednar's talk from Conference about expressing our love and our testimony to our family. It was a nice evening, and ended with testimony. I addressed the fun things of this holiday that aren't as we talk about them, witches flying, monsters, etc. Then I testified of the power of wickedness, and yet the power of the Priesthood to chase evil away. We talked about evil, and how it makes us scared. I would NEVER want my home to be someplace where children are scared to be! I am so grateful that this is a safe haven - safe from the evils of the world, safe from the criticism of mocking (another story for another time about S at pack meeting last week!) and safe with lots of love to go all around! Home is where ever our family is, not necessarily in his building, but I am thankful that those feelings of love, peace, and comfort have a place to belong where our family is united frequently! We can't wait to unite with J again in about 3 weeks!
It was so cute! BE! BE as high as you need to fly! Our Savior wants us to Fly High! Thanks for your beautiful examples little princess witches!
S decided after quite some time of practicing, B bending a broom stick in half, etc. that if I would just show her how she knew she could get it! The power of Example! Be an Example of the Believers! I know S if we can watch our Savior, Jesus Christ, and do what he does and wants us to do, then we will get it! We will BE able to fly as high as we need to! Believe in the Savior Jesus Christ!
