So much beautiful music in so many instruments playing around me lately! Much activity, beautifully orchestrated!
My darling Dad in town last weekend for a few days - we love to have him here to play with! Golf, bike rides, swimming, hikes! Love you tons!
Supported L in playing in several Volleyball games. Shocked a bit at the lack of support for our yw! Glad we were there to cheer them on!
Taught three classes - 'Big Events' twice and 'Get that Arrow of Light' once in the Cub Scout Leader Pow Wow on Saturday in that annual event. - Great job! Realized I blew it by not having Dad share his poem until the last class! He is so fabulous! B is too! Could not have pulled this off without tons of help! It was a great success! Many hands on activities, including launching paper rockets in the parking lot for the last few minutes of the 'Big Events' classes. Cool!
Company in town for dinner, and then last minute stay over on Saturday.
Browns Concert last week loved by my young people! B and I attend Stake conference adult session, and then went out to pick them up.
B to SLC Sunday after church for depos on Monday morn.
Stake Conference - President Eyring talked about the evils existing "even in Utah!" I relate to these so well as I struggled growing up in Sandy. Seeing children of leaders not choosing to stand for virtue! So true! More true today!
Evening of Excellence a great success! K.P. did a fabulous job! Parents of YW each invited to share three minutes about their beautiful busy daughters. It was fabulous to hear them public praise and show love and admiration for their daughters. Some said we should do that once a month! Others said we needed it just that way every year! Many Dad's choose to participate, a bit of a shock to me, but so appropriate! K.P. closed the beautiful night with a quick story of when she was a YW - 12 or 13 years old, attending a meeting where President Kimball asked all the children to come forward and sing his favorite song "I am a Child of God." Not considering herself a child, she didn't get up and proceed to the front. Her mother prodded her to go, and reluctantly she did. Following the song, he invited them to stay 'till the end of the meeting at which time, he greeted each one, looking her in the eye, testifying to her heart and being the love of her Savior for her individually! She almost missed it! She almost didn't get out of her seat to participate. She challenged all to get out of our seats and try something new. Don't be spectators! It was a beautiful night! Thanks be to God! Gloria in Excelsis Deo! Another highlight of this night was L and A.D. performing the beautiful song "Live Like You Believe." They practiced nearly everyday the week before, and L was very nervous to hit all the right keys. It passed off a required performance for her Accompaniment class at DSC this quarter, but she was very concerned about it. B gave her a beautiful blessing Sunday afternoon. She was certainly blessed! It was perfect! She is a beautiful YW! I am so fortunate to be her mother! Thanks Heavenly Father!
Monday we worked hard on our gifts for the Hopi Indian project - 200 young children. I also went to Vegas to get baskets to share apples with so many fabulous people touching my life and that of my children! Thank you!
Tuesday was stake court of honor and we prepared beautiful baskets of apples and carmel, cards, etc. for all the pow wow teachers. Then we delivered them over the next couple days.
I did water to the Dr. offices with the help of my jr team on Wednesday. It takes us a couple hours each week to do this job, but we are finding it is bringing referrals to the office. That is positive, and certainly better than other forms of advertising! We feel great about it serving, giving, sharing. All positive except for the time it takes to do! I am grateful to teach my children how to work.
Thursday was Roundtable, so I had scouting meetings beginning at 6:00 p.m. I spent much of the day in the office, trying to catch up. I have loved time at home lately, but been torn because I have so many responsibilities in both places. I got home that night to see B working on the router in the garage, C working at the radial arm saw, S at the sander, and Little B right there helping however she could. It was already late... like 9:30 but they were all still there working together! L was studying for a test this morning so she had S and J ready for bed, waiting to say prayers as a family. What a beautiful team!
Tonight we got to attend Ryan Shoupe and the Rubber Band with Peter Brienholt at Tuachan. B had to leave this afternoon to be in Provo for scouting meeting, client meeting, deposition, new client, and visiting his Mom tomorrow - wew! I took all the kids to the concert tonight. It was a bit cool, we took several blankets and bundled up. It was fun to be there! J called in the intermission and said that they won their basketball game like 97 to 48 tonight. Yea!
Fully engaged! Activity out of our seats, working, serving, giving, standing as a witness of God at all times and in all things and in all places. This is our goal! Gloria in Excelsis Deo. In the meantime I started gathering ideas, materials etc for the Christmas cards this year. I hope to have many of those done before I leave. Still have much to do on the hopi project, and the mail just keeps coming in. Ugh! I am grateful to be fully engaged!
