My family has been so abundantly blessed! The last few days have been a whirl of activity trying to prepare to leave town for a few days.... hahaha weeks! Ekkkk! We are excited, but concerned about all the responsibilities we need to care to before we leave so we can be gone for this extended time!
Since I last wrote, we...
*Held the last night of the Merit Badge Pow Wow - thank you B!
*Worked in the office, trying to stay abreast of responsibilities there.
*Had company for the weekend - they stayed someplace else, but we enjoyed having them for dinner one night, and then a last minute stay over on Saturday night.
*Taught at Cub Scout Pow Wow - a great success
*Had Dad P down for the weekend and enjoyed a bike ride, swim party, and fun with him!
*Worked on gifts for the Hopi project we are preparing for including finding fabric for 50 darling blankets we are working on with tons of help from our office staff, along with coloring books, crayons, backpacks, hygiene kits, school kits, etc. etc.
*Tried to clean house, and prepare to be gone for a time.
*Put new tires on both the excursion and the truck so they can drive across the country!
*The kids attended the Five Browns Concert last week while we went to the Adult session of Stake Conference.
*Then B had to go to SLC while we put on the Evening of Excellence - it was a night to remember! Had a great YW Evening of Excellence!
For the evening of excellence this year we had a great friend of mine K.P. come to speak. She was the wrap up speaker, and didn't get much time, I felt a bit bad, but it was a fabulous night, and we just didn't know how it would pull off! I had previously invited an adult from the family of each girl to stand and share not more than three minutes about their daughter. I felt strongly that the girls would benefit from hearing someone they love praise them in public. It was fabulous! Honest praise and commendation was given to each daughter in attendance by one or two who really love her! Then K.P. stood and told about when she was 12 and was in a meeting with President Kimball. He invited all the young children to come forward and sing his favorite song "I am a Child of God." She considered herself not a child, and so didn't jump up to participate. Her Mother pushed her to join the children and go to sing. She almost missed the opportunity to sing for the Prophet. After the meeting, he greeted each one of the children who had gone up to sing. She shared how he took her hand, looked right into her eyes and told her that he loved her and how strongly she felt the spirit testify that her Savior loved her too. She said "I almost missed it!" She almost missed this most important opportunity in her entire life, she almost just sat on the bench and didn't want to participate! It was perfect! Then she read to us 3 Nephi 17 and had us close our eyes and imagine that it is happening to us! I wept for join at the possibility of honestly being there as he prayed for the children. He called them to come forward. Would I come? K did FABULOUS! Thank you friend!
In the spare minutes, I have been organizing, cleaning, preparing.... We started work on our Christmas projects for the office and neighbor gifts. We have been up late and up early. Working, involved together intensly! Certainly not sitting on the sidelines! Loved Sister Dalton's talk and K.P.'s message! Perfect! So many miracles! Thanks be to God! Gloria in Excelsis Deo!
