Yesterday we spent the day in beautiful Salt Lake, we are so grateful to have a beautiful place to call home away from home there. We drove up very late on Friday night through the snow, arriving in the wee hours (2ish) on Saturday.
Saturday morning, L, C, and S were up bright and early because I had said there was a possibility they could go skiing that morning if we managed to get ready for the Hopi project and up there. Somehow we made it there. They were thrilled to get to spend the day on the slopes at Solitude, a dream come true for C!
That evening at 5:00 S.S. was baptized at his stake baptism. B picked the kids up from the ski resort about 3:30 to make it on time, and just as we were headed to the car, the phone rang. It was C.J. from St. George with hard news. Our horse Lady had past away. Oh. It caught us all off guard. We gathered L and said a few prayers, delaying our leaving so we were a few minutes late to the baptism. Tears were shed, and the word didn't get to everyone before we walked into the church. S didn't learn until after the baptism, and he sobbed! We were planning on heading home after the service anyway, but now we were for sure! We drove home late that night, stopping for dinner at Fazoli's and Target to buy 140 match box cars to give to the Hopi boys.
We have been working on this Hopi project for months! We have boxes and boxes of hygiene kits, school kits, blankets, sweatshirts, hats, gloves, backpacks, Frisbees, smile balls, oranges, granola bars, etc. etc. to give to them. We are leaving in just a few hours, and honestly I don't have time to write, but I needed to record special feelings about Lady!
This morning we woke early to meet over at the stalls to say good-bye to Lady. When we got up before 7, we intended on just taking L and those awake. Our dear D.J. called about 7:15 and asked if we could bump it an hour to allow it to warm up and quit raining. We worked on the Hopi project final details until 8:30 and went over. We learned that they fed her on Saturday morning, and noticed later she had laid down, thinking she was just resting. It wasn't until later that evening they found her still laying down, realizing she had past away. She was peaceful in the corner of her stall. We really believe she is galloping over the hills. It has been a tender morning. We are supposed to leave at 1, but we are not leaving until 2:30 so L can sing in the ward Christmas Choir presentation today. We put Him first, and the other details will take care of themselves. We are grateful to know that this life is just a part of eternity! C.J. this morning expressed her beautiful belief that horses are perfect! They come here to serve and love, and they do that every day of their life. Lady certainly did! It was just 10 days ago L and S took her on their ride. I count it a miracle that...
The skies cleared and we took care of her in relatively warm conditions today.
She past during the day, and L didn't have to find her alone early one morning.
We have a beautiful place just a half mile from our home to have our kids learn from and care for such perfect animals! We are so blessed!
We get to learn about, experience, touch her to realize that her spirit is not there, her spirit left that body, and is someplace else where she can be free from that tired body. She lives in another form and place now, she will get her body back, and it will be in it's perfect form!
So many miracles! Now we have just a few short hours to finish all preparations for our service project! I am downloading pictures from the last month so I can begin another adventure. I am so grateful for beautiful moments together, grateful for camera's to capture them because time doesn't always allow me to record a written record.
Laus Deo! Meanwhile Christmas projects are all in full swing. Laus Deo!
