Beautiful Nativity at Tuachan last night.

Merry Christmas! Yesterday was the day before the night before. I thnk we finished all our shopping. I love the projects at home, but don't like the spending! ;) My kids loved shopping together. A tradition we have continued from when I was young -
the older kids are in charge of part of the magic (the S) part.:) When I was young we were dropped off on main street in Brigham City, Utah on Christmas eve to do this shopping. We were in charge of filling everyone in the families... some
little fun thing like a yoyo, hoppy taw, game, etc. for each family member. Then utilities like deodorant, tooth brush & paste, lip gloss, perfume, etc. It is a fun tradition we have passed on to my three older kids now. They have had fun with that since J got home. I love seeing them working together on this secret part too!

Tonight's tradition is caroling in the neighborhood. The standard people aren't planning on coming this year, we are trying to determine what we will change/add to make it our tradition. We end the night with homemade hamburgers, homemade french fries, and homemade egg nog shakes - a much anticipated favorite!
At midnight on Christmas Eve I like to go to Midnight Mass. We don't always make it, and some churches are definitely better than others! The Catholic church here in St. George has been... bilingual and not so good! I have fond memories of the Catholic church in Sandy where D.English sang with candles given to everyone when they came in. At a certain point in the mass, they pass the flame to every one's candle. I remember an overwhelming warm feeling of light as the flame was passed to our row, the light of Christ filing the hearts of those who would take the time to remember Him during this overrun worldly season! I am grateful that I feel that spirit often in other places, and don't have to wait for mass on Christmas and Easter. I am grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Our religion doesn't have a Christmas Eve tradition like the Catholic Church, and I wish they did! I believe the early saints did something special on that Holy Night, but we don't have a worldwide tradition like Catholic Mass, hence our local ward doesn't do anything unique. Oh well. We will find someplace to worship tonight. I hope it brings the Christmas Spirit to light! Then in the morning special traditions. I'll have note later! Off to wrap the Christmas Eve PJ's for my family! Merry Christmas!
