If you haven't heard of Bountiful Baskets, you need to learn! I have been training for two weeks to help run a new site. I first heard about this a year ago, and called, hoping to participate, however they laughed and said the closest sites were in Nephi - some three hours from my home! Since then, it has grown like wild fires! There are now some six sites here in St. George, with more opening weekly. It is a joint cooperative where a contribution is made and produce is purchased in bulk. With all volunteers from the community, the truck delivers to a parking lot early on Saturday morning, and with the help of the volunteers, the food is divided evenly between all the participants that week. With a limit each site can handle, set by the volunteer coordinator, you have to log into their sites on Mondays - I am actually trying to log in right now on another page trying to load. The site opens at 4:00 p.m. for Southern Utah, and is gone by 5:00! Lately they have been out within 30-40 minutes! This week they have strawberries 12# I believe for $8.00! Steal deal! You also get a laundry basket full of food for $15.00 - half of vegetables and half fruit! We have loved their honey wheat bread. It is so amazing to show up and see who is willing to help and work for the good of the community! It really helps your own family so much, but in helping your family, you have to help the community group making it happen! I am excited to open a site here in Bloomington within a couple of weeks. I trust it too will sell out quickly! I look forward to seeing who shows up to put their shoulder to the wheel to help others! Zion community one step closer to home! It's great!
