I am excited to help with an upcoming celebration here in our hometown of Bloomington! Last night we gathered Committee members and Bloomington Community Council Members to discuss the upcoming 4th of July festivities! I was thrilled to welcome so many especially on short notice for some! We are well on our way! I was thrilled to participate in the discussions, and to learn about and from these amazing people! It will be awesome!
Looking forward to a 5K Fun Run in the morning, Flag Raising ceremony @ 7:30, Breakfast at the Park, Community Parade lead by great people, games organized by a council of youth members from the community, and then a Patriotic Tribute Fireside on Sunday evening at the Stake center. It will be grand! Wow, I was impressed with the caliber of people who rallied here to help make it happen! Thank you friends!
I was particularly touched as the group talked about the flag on the roundabout. There has been such controversy, I nearly cried when they said kind, positive things about its beauty! Many in the group didn't realize how expensive the flag, pole, sign, etc was! On top of that, we have gone through two flags in the past year, they have been careful to not let it get ragged. Each flag costs $650.00 Wow! Many were still grateful to have that flag welcome us to our home. I am too! Our theme for the celebration this year will be "It's a Grand Old Flag!" Love it!
