Temple Prepardness

Today my J will enter the temple for his first time as a Melchizedek Priesthood holder, to make covenants with God and to participate in sacred, eternal ordinances. Monday for FHE we studied Alma 5 with regards to being prepared and worthy. We enjoyed a good conversation, and it was good to be Reminded to Remember! One of the YW PP for Virtue is to study that chapter and consider the questions asked there in and then to develop a plan to be worthy to enter the Temple. I am so grateful for the choices made and commandments kept which will allow B & I to enter the house of the Lord today with our son! Grandparents are en route to be here for the occasion. Lots to accomplish, but in all the lists, the most important list is things of eternity! Kindness, love, duty to God, family and personal scripture study, prayer,... I am grateful for a beautiful home, for the opportunity to be a mother, for a strong, handsome husband who provides for our family so I don't really have to work outside the home. I am grateful to be home with my children to teach them, to learn together things of eternity!

From April General Conference, Elder L. Tom Perry:

Teaching in the home is becoming increasingly important in today’s world, where the influence of the adversary is so widespread and he is attacking, attempting to erode and destroy the very foundation of our society, even the family. Parents must resolve that teaching in the home is a most sacred and important responsibility. While other institutions, such as church and school, can assist parents to “train up a child in the way he [or she] should go” (Proverbs 22:6), ultimately this responsibility rests with parents. According to the great plan of happiness, it is parents who are entrusted with the care and development of our Heavenly Father’s children. Our families are an integral part of His work and glory—“to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man” (Moses 1:39). On God’s eternal stage, it is usually intended that parents act as the central cast members in their children’s lives. Fortunately, there are understudies involved in the production who may step in when parents can’t. It, however, is parents who have been commanded by the Lord to bring up their children in light and truth (see D&C 93:40).

Parents must bring light and truth into their homes by one family prayer, one scripture study session, one family home evening, one book read aloud, one song, and one family meal at a time. They know that the influence of righteous, conscientious, persistent, daily parenting is among the most powerful and sustaining forces for good in the world. The health of any society, the happiness of its people, their prosperity, and their peace all find common roots in the teaching of children in the home.

I am so grateful for many years together, and look forward to years ahead of learning and growing together! Today is a rejoice day! A day of eternal celebration! As I sew slippers, a tradition of my Farmor. I picked up just a few days ago another sewing project for J's temple wardrobe which reminds me of Grandma M! I am so grateful to have generations of family linked for Eternity! I have been working on a few family names to take through the temple, most in our lines are completely done - back to nearly the time of Christ :) - thanks to amazing Grandmothers who worked hard when genealogy work wasn't anything at all like we have today! I have managed to find a few.
