I am so thankful for many promptings from the Spirit, daily in my life! I realize this is a divine gift from my Heavenly Parents who love and care about me. I indeed desire to always be worthy of their loving guidance and that of the Holy Spirit so that I can be instruments in their hands here upon this earth.
John 14: 26-27 reads:
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 15:26
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.
2 Nephi 32:1-5
And now, behold, my beloved brethren, I suppose that ye ponder somewhat in your hearts concerning that which ye should do after ye have entered in by the way. But, behold, why do ye ponder these things in your hearts?
Do ye not remember that I said unto you that after ye had received the Holy Ghost ye could speak with the tongue of angels? And now, how could ye speak with the tongue of angels save it were by the Holy Ghost?
Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.
Wherefore, now after I have spoken these words, if ye cannot understand them it will be because ye ask not, neither do ye knock; wherefore, ye are not brought into the light, but must perish in the dark.
For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do.
Doctrine & Covenants 45:57-59
For they that are wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not been deceived—verily I say unto you, they shall not be hewn down and cast into the fire, but shall abide the day.
And the earth shall be given unto them for an inheritance; and they shall multiply and wax strong, and their children shall grow up without sin unto salvation.
For the Lord shall be in their midst, and his glory shall be upon them, and he will be their king and their lawgiver.
Doctrine & Covenants 88:3-4
Wherefore, I now send upon you another Comforter, even upon you my friends, that it may abide in your hearts, even the Holy Spirit of promise; which other Comforter is the same that I promised unto my disciples, as is recorded in the testimony of John.
This Comforter is the promise which I give unto you of eternal life, even the glory of the celestial kingdom;
Doctrine & Covenants 121:45-46
Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven.
The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant companion, and thy scepter an unchanging scepter of righteousness and truth; and thy dominion shall be an everlasting dominion, and without compulsory means it shall flow unto thee forever and ever.
I have been guided often by the Spirit, even daily! I know that these gifts outlined in these scriptures have been given to me from above, and I am thankful! I sincerely pray that I can continue to be guided and directed, to indeed be an instrument in His hands. I love this quote from President Spencer W. Kimball:
"God does notice us, and he watches over us. But it is usually through another person that he meets our needs." I hope I help Him to meet the needs of others around me! I know that He meets my every need, and for this I am grateful! I hope this very blog is a record of promptings of the Holy Spirit both in my behalf and in behalf of others.
I also love the principal of not letting your right hand know what your left hand does. President Monson said: "Harry Emerson Fosdick said: “Until willingness overflows obligation, men fight as conscripts rather than following the flag as patriots. Duty is never worthily performed until it is performed by one who would gladly do more if only he could.”
In short, we need to extend ourselves in service to our Heavenly Father if we are to demonstrate our love for Him.
I often think of the quiet manner in which President Spencer W. Kimball served God, without a lot of pomp and ceremony. No one really ever knew all that he did in serving his Heavenly Father, for he did it in the true spirit of the Savior, many times not letting the right hand know what the left was doing. He was the type of man who was willing to put forth any effort the kingdom of God required." What a beautiful compliment! I know this is also true of my fabulous parents! I am so grateful for their example of righteousness! They truly serve in this manner, following carefully the direction they receive, and acting upon those sacred promptings. I hope I can follow their example!
