Powerful FHE!

FHE stands for Family Home Evening. Monday, July 19th, we held FHE at our Fox Hunt home with all the Paulsen side. Plans where to leave St. George about noon to have plenty of time to make Chinese for dinner that night. Last minute details of packing J took more time and was more difficult emotionally than we could complete that quickly. We didn't leave St. George until after 2 p.m.. We had planned to have all my family gather at 6pm, but we bumped that to 7! B made an executive decision to not hassle with dinner, we are thankful for heavenly help providing for our family, and we called Panda Express, a Chinese restaurant about 2 and made arrangements for them to prepare all the food for 35 people for dinner that night. We stopped on the way into town, picked it up, and hurried to our SL home to prepare! Dinner was just the gathering activity - the treat came after! We had purchased 18 "Future Missionary" tags for all the grand kids. I asked Dad to be in charge, and he asked each member of our family that served a mission to share a highlight and testimony of their mission. It was beautiful to hear their testimonies! D.S. began sharing how important it was to use your own talents as a missionary to serve the Lord. C.L. followed, sharing a powerful story of a young man calling to him as a missionary from over the fence, and how they were guided by the spirit to teach through an interview this young man wanted to have them participate in. J.M. talked about sharing the gospel in a very cold place, when he so wanted to go someplace warm, but testified that he knows it was the right place for him to serve! J.P. talked about his mission the real convert was himself, and how important it is to prepare so that you can teach with the spirit and bear testimony to others! B.H. (love him!) talked about creative door approaches, and how you have to be outgoing and creative to talk to people, but how important it is to be strong and courageous in sharing what is most precious and dear, our testimonies. K.M. followed talking about her difficult mission to New Jersey. She began as a shy, young lady, and learned quickly that she would be expected to stand on a crate on busy street corners, singing "I am a Child of God" as loud as she could, followed by bearing strong testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ. Crazy as it was, many stopped and asked questions, later to be taught and baptized. She shared powerful testimony of the importance of preparing and of the many lessons she learned while serving with all her heart! Then Grandpa Chris shared about his mission to Palau with Grandma. He talked about the Chinese people they taught there, and how little they had, but how grateful they were for the Gospel. Then my dear Dad followed, talking about one day on his mission in upstate New York, they found a man chopping wood, and offered to help him. They chopped all day, and later got to teach him. For years, my Dad considered this one man his only convert. B.O. followed my Dad home, and came to Utah where he married. He had five kids, and today, 4 of those 5 kids have served mission for the Lord! In fact we saw B.O. and his sweetheart as we came from the SL temple in the last few weeks. He and Linda are serving a mission right now on temple square - touching lives! The ripple made in the life of ONE and how that went on to influence generations. Powerful! Then Dad turned the time to Jed to recite the Missionary Commission he has shared several times lately, but is so powerful (see sidebar!). It was a beautiful night! We all left charged to stand a little taller, try a little harder to be better, to represent the Savior in our daily actions! All the kids left with their future missionary tags on. Memories we will treasure forever! Thanks family!
