I have this battle with time! On one hand I have only 6 weeks left... to having a baby! But on the other hand... I have only a week left with my first little one at home! I adore him! We have packed lots into the past couple of months, and I can't believe that we are down to only a week left! We just got home from SLC last night where J and B spoke at the Snowbird branch on Sunday. We hosted a Harr family party on Saturday night in Cedar Hills. We had about 65 people show up for barbecue at the park. It was a nice evening! Johnny H. entered the MTC last Wednesday, and this Wednesday his other cousin Nick H. enters. Then the next week... I don't want to admit!
So Sunday we went to the Snowbird Branch at 9 am. It was beautiful! I am grateful for good family! Then we headed to Alpine to support Nick. Interesting meeting. B flew home that afternoon for meetings he had early on Monday. The kids and I stayed and had lots of Paulsen family over for dinner. It was a nice evening.
Monday we decided we were going hiking on the Beautiful Wasatch Mountains! We didn't get a real early start, we have been running so fast, we are all a bit tired! We decided to tackle Twin Peaks from the S curve in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Because I am a bit pregnant :), I sent my Senior team for the bigger adventure! I stuck with Jr. team. Keri and her kids, and Mom came with us, and we hiked for about an hour up. Sr. team went on to summit! I regret that L had the only camera, and when she finally got it out... yep the camera card was NOT with the camera! That's the pits to carry it all that way to not even get a picture! Needless to say, the next day, we snuck out early to buy not one but two new little cameras! J will be taking one with him to the MTC and then Taiwan, and C leaves on the 24th for his Jamboree Trip back East! He will be gone 20 days from July 24th - August 10th. We bought new shoes, socks, and cameras for both their trips early on Tuesday, and then went back up the canyon for a hike with Granny and Katie & boys. She made a fun announcement on Monday night at FHE with her boys - she is having a GIRL! She said she had night mares that night about girls! Fun! She is due the end of November. I am excited for her!
We hiked that afternoon up Little Cottonwood Canyon for a couple of hours while J & C went to Draper to ride a new downhill bike ride C was very anxious to find! About 3:00 p.m. Sr. team left for the Draper temple. Grandpa and Granny work as Ordinance workers every Tuesday, so my kids went to do a few baptisms - special to have Grandpa lay his hands on Liesl's head to confirm her! Jed got to do initatories with Grandpa as the Ordinance worker! Dad said he totally got chocked up as he pronounced those beautiful blessings on this clean, worthy young man! I am so grateful for young people and parents worthy and willing to be in the temple! I understand Chandler was just a bit too fast to have Grandpa help with his baptisms. He plans to go again next week, maybe it can work out then. :)
Jr. team and I stayed up the canyon and enjoyed a picnic at Snowbird with Katie and her boys. We played in the river and ate watermelon! Good times! Her boys are so excited for a sister! That night Jed got to sneak in a date with Lauren. They tried to go ride the Alpine slide in Park City, but decided to have dinner first, and by the time they got to the slide, it was closed already. Too bad. They ended up coming back to the house to play games. I am grateful Jed feels comfortable enough at home to bring his dates back home when plans change! We had a fun time playing a game we had never played before - Sequences. It was a fun twist for the night!
Wednesday morning, all my sisters but Whit gathered in the temple! My Dad was substituting for someone, and officiated in the 9:00 a.m. Endowment session. It was neat to be there. Surprise, Brad learned of an emergency meeting regarding an investment we have, and so he drove back to SLC on Tuesday night so he got to join us in the temple! That was cool! Thanks honey! Jed promised me I didn't need to cry that this would be our last time before he embarks to be in the temple together! I have loved going with him weekly for the past while! I was impressed that he wasn't going into the lone and dreary world! He is going commissioned as the apostles, on an errand for His Father! He is going with specific instructions from the Savior about what he is to accomplish and where he is to do it! I had feelings of comfort that he would be protected and guided while out there!
My good kids had all the cousins to our house for the morning so all my sisters could come to the temple! That is seven extra kids at the house for the morning, for 13 kids total! Liesl is a driver now, so she met Katie at the freeway to save her some time so we could all make it to the temple on time. Thanks L! C went to the Linfords so that Keri's kids could sleep in for a bit longer. Bode ended up sleeping until nearly 10:00 a.m.! He must have been tired too!
After the temple, we cleaned up the house, and headed home. B took the boys and went to the stock holder meeting at 4:00. I had the 4th Wrap up meeting here at our home at 8. We barely made it in time! I am so grateful for good, dependable cars that carry us all over!
Tonight we are taking a few of Jed's friends and headed to Powell for the day tomorrow! We live just 2 hours from that beautiful lake, we like to go sleep in the parking lot, and then ski our hearts out the next morning on the glass, until we can't hold on any longer, swim, picnic, and then we come home. It's perfect! That's the plan for tomorrow! One night in this bed, and we're off again! :) Jed's farewell here is Sunday. Not sure I am ready for that! The yard needs attention, but my favorite poem reminds me....
Cooking and scrubbing can wait for tomorrow
for babies grow up we've learned to our sorrow
so quiet down cobwebs and dust go to sleep,
I'm rocking my baby and baby's don't keep!
A little different that I'm playing, shopping, working, and being with my son, but our time is quickly passing! Loving every minute together! Weeds will still be growing in August! Sorry friends, family and neighbors, my priorities right now aren't public appearances! Come to think of it.. .they seldom are! I love being with my family!
