Tonight marked nearly the end of the committee meetings planning this upcoming Sector event. It is mind boggling to consider the details, coordination, possibilities of 1800 cub scouts and their leaders (could easily top 2500 total) participating in activities at the Washington County Fair Grounds while another 5000 Boy Scouts, Varsity, and Venturers also participate on the same campus!
Our theme is "Kights of Adventure" with 6 stations rotating on the half hour: Swords, Shields, Fencing Instruction & Practice, Dinner & Trading Post, Trebruchets, Orienteering, and finally the battle.

This is the commemorative coin each Cub will receive in the Orienteering section! Excited about this extra special out of the ordinary addition!
We have many details to work out yet, but it is coming together! I am grateful to work with such amazing people, to have their help in planning and implementing this grand event!
D.M. and D.S. of the Steering Committee for this grand event attended the meeting tonight, and added their blessing and insight. How to move 2200 people from the battle grounds to the stadium quickly and efficiently - how much time should we allow for that transition? Parking issues. Darkness issues for dismissing after the fireworks. Evacuation procedures. First Aid instructions. Not to mention the individual instructions for each section which will require hundreds of leaders and accommodate 250-300 boys per rotation. Wow! One leader at round table this week said just talking about this activity makes her want to dig a deep hole and bury herself until it's over. I think that's not very adventurous! I anticipate it will be lively and active, but we have worked and planned, considered, and visualized. I gave the closing prayer tonight after our long (2 1/2 hour meeting) and prayed for the Lord's blessing to make up the difference where we fall short. I have faith that He wants this event to move forward smoothly and positively. He will work miracles where we have huge gaps in our planning! I trust Him! In the meantime, I have much work to do to do my part!
Last week in Sunday School, I wrote a note in my syllabus something about "The Lord is much more apt to help the one who gets out to help push the wagon which is stuck in the mud, then he is the one who sits in the seat, and simply offers a prayer." I believe this with all my heart. I promise to do my best to keep pushing, grateful and humble because I know when He helps push, miracles happen!
