Fighting Hunger

Last weekend we participated with extended family to prepare some 60 care bags for homeless in Salt Lake City. It was beautiful to see the gifts brought and to witness the willingness of even the young children in preparing these bags for people they had never met. In that process, we learned about a gift WalMart is making. Visit this page and click on Salt Lake City to have their donation make a difference in our state! As of Last Sunday we were #6, today as I finally get around to inviting others to join this movement, we are ranked #3. I am thankful to live in Utah, and to have the blessings of abundance in my life. This little act could bless thousands of others in our community! Please join me in "Liking" Salt Lake City, Utah!

(Follow up Note, we Won!)
Nice! Thanks friends for blessing Salt Lake City, Utah with 1 million! Yep, first place! I am not sure what that says about the population of our great state, the thought of "liking" Walmart gives me jitters. You see, after living in Tennessee, and seeing the treatment of employees of that "largest company in the world," I vowed to support the little guys instead! I detest that store, and do my best to not purchase anything there. It is the closest store to my home, and I know of many, many, too many who travel great distances to arrive at that store! Ugh! However, I drive right on by, and in fact, when I decide that I should venture inside that huge box, I am pleased as punch when I make it OUT WITHOUT spending a dime! (which happens often :)). I do have to say that I have been impressed with their donations to local events however. They stab at trying to help the communities they rob. (You see, they put everyone else out of business so are they helping or killing our community? I think they're killing it!) Anyway, the money for homeless was another gesture for it to appear that they care about people. (Consider how much they care about people when you take a look at how they treat their own employees.) If someone was going to benefit from their donation, I am grateful that it was people of my great state! It does make me recall however, an article I have found myself drawn to several times in the past months about "the dole" titled the Celestial Nature of Self-Reliance. Something our society certainly needs today!
