With God, Nothing is Impossible, but you must reach and take His hand!

Several times in the past few days I have found myself humming these words from a song I learned when I was but a girl...

When Someone Cares  (PDF of music linked here)
Whom shall I serve? What inner strength have I to give?
Do others feel the way I live is evidence that I care?
An earnest desire, endow'd with power from above,
Your heart can hear the gift of love in answer to some one's prayer.

For with God nothing is impossible,
But you must reach and take his hand.
With God nothing is impossible
Those who have ears to hear will understand.
The blind could see. The lame man could walk away.
And lives still change from night to day
When they know that someone cares.

The need to know, which voice to heed, which path to take.
A world confused, a choice to make, is man meant to walk alone?
A pillar of light. Young Joseph in a grove of trees,
Found out when he was on his knees his Father in Heaven cared.

For with God nothing is impossible,
But you must reach and take his hand.
With God nothing is impossible
Those who have ears to hear will understand.
The blind could see. The lame man could walk away.
And lives still change from night to day
When they know that someone cares.

Our world seems so lost in despair. What has happened to ears to hear? We all have two ears. Do we hear? Do we believe that with God, Nothing is impossible? For family home evening last night we watched this talk titled "Attempting the Impossible." I was touched by these words:

"President David O. McKay said that the rich rewards come only to the strenuous strugglers. These rewards will be for those who nurture faith in Jesus Christ and comply with His will to work, sacrifice, and give all they have received to strengthen and build the kingdom of God.

The fulfillment of the divine promise to have eternal life, to achieve perfection, and to be happy forevermore in the family unit is subject to the sincere demonstration of our faith in Jesus Christ, obedience to the commandments, perseverance, and diligence throughout our lives.

The Lord does not expect that we do what we cannot achieve. The command to become perfect, as He is, encourages us to achieve the best of ourselves, to discover and develop the talents and attributes with which we are blessed by a loving Eternal Father, who invites us to realize our potential as children of God. He knows us; He knows of our capacities and our limitations. The invitation and challenge to become perfect, to achieve eternal life is for all mankind.

Immediately after teaching that “it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength,” King Benjamin indicated that “it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize.” 6 God will not require more than the best we can give because that would not be just, but neither can He accept less than that because that would not be just either. Therefore, let us always give the best we can in the service of God and our fellowmen. Let us serve in our families and in our callings in the Church in the best manner possible. Let us do the best we can and each day be a little better."

The line in the song "Those who have ears to hear" hit me really strong! Do I have ears to hear? I have ears. I hear, but do I hear the promptings of the Holy Spirit, every one? Do I hear the guidance of God every hour of every day?

I love being a Mom. I love the privilege I have of being with my little ones each and every day, even as we struggle through lessons, and a dirty house. I love the opportunities to gather them around me and read a story. I love the sight of them peddling fast on their bikes. I adore their beautiful smiles! We have so much to be grateful for!

This past weekend we have loved having the Linfords and my Mom here. My boys went with Grandpa Val to his Klondike because our troop, well it was Klondike here too, but my boys are the only ones from our ward who went this year. They went with their Grandpa and Dad, doesn't get much better than that!! During the week, in preparation for the campout, I questioned B about really driving all the way to Heber to go be in the cold for the campout, and B replied, "This is the only Klondike my boys will know this year! We're going!" I am so grateful for a husband who will find a way to accomplish, to make memories, and build character! I don't have pictures of the klondike to share, but I do of the cute bike rides, hikes, and memories with Jr. team and company this weekend! What fun! Thanks K & C for coming to play with us! This is the stuff life is made of! I Love IT!
