Sunday was our Primary program, yea! We're done! I am currently the primary chorister. I didn't have anything to do with writing the script, in fact I think the primary presidency just found one written by someone else on the internet and put the songs they wanted to add in. I think the direction from the general primary board is that we have about 8 songs in a program, one for each month up until September. This year they included twelve songs in the program and two of those were hymns with all three verses in each! Wew! That is a lot of songs! It seemed like we had a song, then two quick little two line messages from kids, and then another song!
In addition to all the songs, there were two scriptures that they had all the kids recite together. I wish they were scriptures that they had talked about in Primary even once, but they were just included in this script they found, and so they went with it. I printed the words big on a sheet of paper so the older kids could read it, and the younger ones just went along.
For three weeks prior to the program, I gathered the achievement girls (8-12) in my home to practice all the songs, but "I Will Follow God's Plan" which they sang without the rest of the Primary. As part of that, I had the girls make up actions for the scriptures so they could memorize them. They were so darling! They made up funny actions, and even while reciting the scriptures in the program, I giggled as I looked into their eyes, knowing they were thinking of their actions. I am grateful for a cute group of girls that my own girls get to grow up with!
Overall, miracles happened, and it went well. The message of choosing the right came through, and the kids told of the pre-existence and their decision to come to earth and show their Heavenly Father their desire to return to His presence. I am thankful for the fun times we have shared singing and learning together.
The two scriptures are ones worth knowing: Joshua 24:15 and 1 Nephi 17:3. I hope that as a family we will each choose this day, and each day, to serve the Lord, and I know that the Lord does bless, nourish, strengthen, and provide the means whereby we can accomplish the things He commands us!
