I wonder how many times in my lifetime I have sung those words "I hope they call me on a mission, when I have a grown a foot or two. I hope by then I will be ready, to teach and preach and work as missionaries do." I have sung that song lots!
This week dreams will come true as we watch the mailbox for L's call. We believe it has been issued!!!!! Her dream would be to serve in New Zealand. I can't figure out where that dream came from, but that is what it is! When quizzed about why, she quickly responds that it is sooo pretty there! She retrieves photos from the internet via her phone that show steep mountains right into the blue waters, sometimes with snow and sometimes covered in flowers. It looks much like pictures of Norway, but she claims this is better because it is much closer to the equator so it is not soo cold and dark much of the year. She is so darling!
She has also determined that there is a MTC in New Zealand. She could report straight there. And her birthday is May 1st, which is a Wednesday, the day missionaries traditionally report! She has this all figured this out! She is so excited! There are two missions in New Zealand. We watched this clip last week for FHE: Where is New Zealand? Of all those dots, where do you hope to serve? Where will she serve? We'll soon know!
She has been eagerly anticipating this call for a few weeks. She is so excited to learn that the internet now shows that her call has indeed been issued! Eeeekkkk! Usually calls are made on Thursday or Friday, and then they are mailed like Monday, and the letters come in St. George Mailboxes by about Thursday or Friday of the following week. That would be on a normal week... however tomorrow (Monday) is Martin Luther King day! Ugh! That means that the post office won't be working tomorrow - it's a National Holiday! That could mean that calls this week may not be on the usual schedule! L has a rehearsal in the LDS Conference Center on Thursday evening (which is a 4 1/2 hour drive away!) She needs to be there by 7 and she can't miss this rehearsal or the one next Sunday evening! Oh the schedules! So, this week will be packed clear full and may include two trips to Salt Lake with a mission opening in the middle! :) I pray that she will have a confirmation where ever her call is to that this is the Lord's will for her! "I will go, I will do, the things the Lord commands. I know the Lord provides a way, He wants me to Obey!" "I will go where you want me to go Dear Lord, over mountain or plain or sea. I'll say what you want me to say dear Lord, I'll be what you want me to be!" I am so grateful for a beautiful daughter who lives the law of Consecration and has dedicated her life to showing her Heavenly Father that she loves Him!
I Love you L! I'll hold on, and I'll buy some kleenix so I can be ready! Tears of joy, trepidation, gratitude, and Love!
