Be thou an Example
Be Strong and of Good Courage
Arise and Shine Forth
Stand ye in Holy Places
These are the themes from the LDS YM/YW program for the past several years. The Proclamation on the Family was presented in 1995. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we have been prepared. Are we?
Where are we today?
The photos in this post are from our family hike up the West face of the canyon from Kayenta recently as Jed was home. I haven't taken time to post them, so this post will work to share the beauty of my world! I love being with these young people! We have so much fun together!
I learned this morning that our own Senator Stephen Urquhart has introduced a Non-Discrimination bill SB262 into the senate. I understand this bill is being voted on in committee this afternoon and I have personally spoken with a couple of the members of that committee. Senator Karen Mayne said that she does not see any problem with this legislation.
The bill will place in statute the following definitions, to be recognized legally with protected status:
"Gender identity" means an individual's internal sense of gender, without regard to the individual's designated sex at birth. Evidence of gender identity may include an individual's self-identification, as well as the individual's gender-related appearance, mannerisms, and other gender-related characteristics." (Lines 88-91)
"Sexual orientation" means an individual's actual or perceived orientation as heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual. (Lines 124-125)
Codifying these definitions recognizes these groups as legitimate, recognized, protected classes of people in the law.
I have called and texted Senator Urquhart and his response was simply "For the record, you are not fine" but he believes that the majority of the people in Washington County are "mostly fine" with this legislation going through! Ugh!!!!
Urquhart has been labeled "a wolf in Sheep's clothing." He knows that he is opening the door for aggressive Gay agenda here, but he doesn't see anything wrong. We need to be heard! Please sign the petition (linked here) and they will forward an email to all those involved in the process that you stand against this bill.
Oh, the quotes of Greats from American history keep rolling through my head today. I can hear them crying! Please help us and don't just stand by and allow this to happen to America!
