Thursday afternoon, May 24th at about 5:00 p.m. we received word that the BSA had passed the membership proposal despite all the negative future consequences. We have prayed that BSA leaders would be brave enough to Stand in Holy Places, and choose to uphold their own oath. They vote 61% to approve the change and allow openly homosexual boys into scouting. B and I don't believe it will be long before adult leaders are welcomed into the ranks as well.
Friday morning, this article was sent to my attention stating that the Connecticut council has already made that switch to allow gay members of all ages. It won't be long before that is true everywhere. They can't uphold their own standards, the courts won't back them in keeping leaders out.
S left for Timberline camp on Saturday. As I pressed his scout shirt, sewing on his Life rank onto his two shirts, it was with heavy heart that I sense this summer marks the end of our involvement with this organization. S is excited to be the leader of the Yellow Patrol, a teacher this week of the Leading EDGE (Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, Enable) and he is the "Songmeister" for the camp this week.
He will also be going to National Jamboree in July for three weeks. He will also attend scout summer camp with our local troop. Then we will be done with BSA.
Stand Ye in Holy Places and be not moved. Arise and Shine Forth.
