I got a week off for Stake Conference last week. I am so grateful for great Stake Leaders! It was rich in nourishment for my heart. The evening session was patterned after the new curriculum for the youth. President Anderson picked some videos he wanted to cover, and then asked people to share. He said that some had been warned, and others were not notified beforehand but he hoped they would choose to participate. They had three microphones and the Stake Presidency walked around, passing the mic to those called on when prompted by President A. I was surprised at how FEW testified of truth. These were adults, and most just shared their thoughts, but didn't testify. One clip President A choose to show was the opening song and prayer from the April 2013 young women's conference. Sister Webb led the singing, and the prayer was given by a beehive... linked here... I loved that part too! President A introduced it saying this was "one of his very favorite parts of all of conference (and it was in the YW meeting!)
This weekend I am missing three from my home. It feels empty!
Sister L.H. flew to Mississippi this week.We got a call about 6:30a.m. on Monday. I am so grateful I didn't get up at my regular 6 to go on a run! I would have missed her call! She was at the airport, we talked to her for about 15 minutes, and she said she would call back between 11 and 1 later that day from Atlanta. She sounded great! Off and away!
We waited and waited for her call. B didn't come home, but sat by his phone at the office, finally calling about 12:30 wondering what had happened. We didn't know, but whispered a prayer for her. Hanging up, I whispered another prayer, and then the phone rang. It was my sister Keri. She said quickly - "I have Shannon P. on the phone, and she is standing next to L!" I screamed, trying to understand what was happening, L came onto the phone with K linked in the middle. I literally got to connect with her for only about 3 minutes. She said that she was ok, but her new phone card with 500 minutes said that it had all been used. She had been unable to place a call to us, now she was boarding the plane! What a miracle that S.P. would be there, and recognize L as a Paulsen! She saw L and offered to call Keri and tell her that she saw her. L asked if she would please have K call us and tell us she was ok, which was when S realized she needed to help her connect clear to us. I was so grateful to hear her voice. After our quick exchange, I hung up and called B quickly, apologizing that he didn't get to hear her voice. He was surprisingly really sad. I knew he would be disappointed, but didn't realize he would be so down about not hearing her.
I was grateful to know she was safe, and that we had been able to hear her voice that morning.
It wasn't until Thursday that we got word from L again. I kept watching the MJM blog, hoping that they would post a photo of my L, but as of tonight they haven't. Thursday afternoon, B called from the office, and said "L is on the computer. Hurry and send her a note!" I ran to a computer, and clicked out a quick note. We got to exchange a couple of emails, and learned that she is doing well! That very morning she and her companion had placed 2 Book of Mormon's. Yea!
Friday night we got an email from her Mission Mom with these photos attached! We sure love her!
