She's Off!

My beautiful L entered the MTC yesterday.  Many miracles surrounding us!

Beautiful blessing from President A. Notes in L's Missionary binder.  It was a beautiful weekend!  Her farewell was moved to Sunday and she was assigned to speak on Sister Dalton's talk which included the quote "What e're thou art, act well thy part." She did a beautiful job talking about the importance of the square on that same stone. She testified that she wanted to be sure that she was doing her part, and standing as a witness of our Savior at the right time and place!  Yes, I cried, thanks L for sharing so beautifully!  I printed a copy of your talk for your missionary binder.  Thank you for being so fabulous!

It was the day before B & I's 24th wedding anniversary, and my beautiful L is leaving home - yet again.  She has been gone for a few months.  Even recently for the entire semester abroad. But we could still skype and see her.  This 18 months sounds like a long time! We will make it!

I am very grateful for lots of my family who came down to support us for the weekend. Some were on their way further south for a family vacation. It was a great weekend, and we loved being together!

There is soo much I want to remember and sooo much that is important!  Saturday morning (the day before L's farewell) C competed in the St. George 1/2 Ironman.  Man, he is iron tough even though he quickly corrects that he is ONLY 1/2 irontough!  I think you're an Ironman Chan!  xoxoxo

It was fun to gather at the finish line and cheer him in! Nice work my "Dimple Boy!"

Monday morning as a family (B took the better part of the day to be with us) we hiked the Bloomington waterfall hike, heading west up the first canyon after the waterfall.  It was the first time we had hiked up that draw.  C took B & I on a run down that draw recently, but it was fun to do it up and share it with the kids and my parents. We will forever remember L's waterfall hike in preparation for her departure!

We departed to SLC on Tuesday, later than we had hoped. The sky was cloudy and there was a huge rainbow in the sky that extended from one edge of the horizon to the other as we departed!  I am so thank for very personal messages from heaven!  Thank you Heavenly Parents for knowing I needed your majestic reassurance that You are in charge!  That was at the close of a busy day full of packing final details for L!  It's hard to pack everything for 18 months! I keep saying that she is not going to a foreign country!  She is not that far away and she can just go purchase what she needs. But the time and ability to get to the stores may not allow her too!  I hope we got her ready sufficiently!  We still had to ship her bike to MS so I kept adding things to my list to include in the bike box!

We didn't arrive in SLC until about 2 a.m..  We were really tired and traded drivers several times so we could be awake.  That road seemed really long that night!  Wednesday morning, we knew we wanted to be headed to the MTC by about 10.  Brad had some other jobs he needed to do in SLC, but we opted to focus exclusively on L in the morning, and handle the other jobs later that day!  It was a beautiful morning.

On the way to the MTC we opted to stop and pick up a CTR ring L has picked out for some time at a LDS place in Orem. I am grateful she was able to go in and try it on, but I wish we would have handled that before the morning she was leaving!  In the end, she will forever remember her Dad taking her in to try on rings!  Thanks B for being so outstanding!  xoxoxoox!

Then we found our spot on the East side of the temple was empty!  The bottom grounds were swarming with  people.  We learned later from Sister H that they had 600 missionaries report to Provo that day.  I believe they cram them into drop off times within about a two hour window!  Wow!  So, another miracle just for me was that our space was perfectly ready for us!  The sky was cloudy, mirroring my heart!  We snapped some beautiful shots (I'll upload a few of those later).

I told her at the temple I wasn't going to even get out at the MTC so I gave her a solid hug, praying for her well-being!  Then we drove to the MTC and there were lots of missionaries on the curb to welcome new missionaries.  They each took a new companion, our new Elders and Sisters and took them under their wing for their launch!  What a launch!  Almost immediately it started raining.  I remember that it rained the day my sister went in to.  What beauty customized just for me!  Thank you Heavenly parents!

We enjoyed ice cream (although not at the BYU Creamery - it was under construction!)  That didn't stop us.   B found a shop and we enjoyed having C and S join us at the very end.  Indeed I have much to be grateful for!
