As marriage is attacked, and traditional family is being desecrated, I am grateful to focus this very month on the Lord's plan for us!
I appreciate the thoughts and attitude conveyed in this blog post about family relationships, and hope that I follow this wise counsel to teach my children to love and serve one another in word and example! I love them so much! I want them to love each other! I have testimony that our children live up to what we expect of them. I have been studying the recent conference talks, and was touched by this talk by Elder Callister. I don't see the graph in this online version of the talk, but in the Ensign, there is a graph that shows the growth of a boy, and that it jumps when we send boys into the mission field. Then he talks about why that is, and how we need to change that graphic so that the growth has begun long before they reach the mission field. I have edited parts to read in my family, instead of just in the Aaronic Priesthood responsibilities. I think this is powerful for me as a Mom! I need to increase my expectations of my sons and daughters in my home and then TRUST they will meet those expectations! Because they will!!! Our goal as a couple is to not just have our children meet our expectations, but to Exceed our Imaginations for what they can accomplish! We really remind each other of this goal often, and make conscience choices to do all we can to support our children as they reach higher and higher heights! We see far to many parents to want to be superior to their children. That is not our goal! We want to have them stand on the shoulders of greatness and reach even higher heights than we can imagine!

He sends us here to this earth in.... Families!!!!
Plain and simple!
I get to direct Primary singing time and this month our theme is "Families are Part of Heavenly Father's Plan." We are asked to teach the song... Families Can Be Together Forever.
There is also another youtube that is great, but for some reason it won't let me embed it like this one... click here to view it.
My older kids will have fun with this word search on the Family.
I love that this family has memorized the Family Proclamation to music. If I would just have my kids listen to it, it wouldn't be long before we would all be singing it! :)

I love to learn from other beautiful mothers who are doing amazing things to strengthen their family! We Talk of Christ, We Rejoice in Christ is one such beautiful blog that has taught me so much! I love this linkup they host annually on the Family Proclamation! (Here is the link to the 2013 linkup with back links to past years - tons of resources here!) Thank you ladies!
Here is a link to LDS Living FHE Lessons on the Family Proclamation. Such a wealth of resources!
I think for my Singing time this week, I am going to print out these blank faces and have the kids draw their family members. I think I will have them mount them on chop sticks and then we will share this story from the Friend about being strong, called Chopsticks.
When my oldest children were little I had the priviledge of being a part of a Family Home Evening Group where a group of amazing women all contributed to a packet of fun for families. We picked a topic/month, and then we assigned different parts for each person. One month our theme was Families and this was one of the stories that was picked with all the props, pictures, etc. to share in Family Home Evening. Over the years, I have been amazed again and again at the number of times I have used those resources created that year that we did that! I wonder why I haven't organized that again! That was a lot of years ago, but those stories because they are all ready to go are favorites of my family!
So, back to Chopsticks, I have scanned the pictures that were hand painted by one of those ladies for my family to use with this story. Then she provided chopsticks for each member of the family to tell the story! It's just the right message for primary this week! I am putting the full scale scans in my dropbox file for this song available by following this link.
