Last weekend I cut the top of my ring finger on my left hand. It was sliced right on the knuckle while trying to lift the barbecue into the truck for our Paulsen family reunion on Saturday (which went great btw). I held it tight and stopped the bleeding, adding a simple tight bandaid as I hurried with important jobs. Yesterday I noticed that it was healing, but not together! There was a flap of skin that had completely separated from my finger, making it a funny flap right on top of my knuckle! I asked C to look at it and then B when he came home, both agreed that it was not healing correctly and we were going to have to take drastic measures to get it better! I asked C to use it as his first practice job for sewing, and he flatly declined! I attempted to no avail to get my wedding band off that finger. It isn't coming off. I soaked my hand in freezing water, I used soap and neosporin. It is still on there. My knuckle is pretty swollen. I try not to think about what might have to happen. I am having faith that it will heal, and someday my finger will return to it's normal size again! After really twisting and pulling on it with two helpers also working with me, the ring is still on my finger! I have taped it to a stick so I can't bend it, hoping that will heal the flap to the right place on my knuckle, but in the meantime, I have come to appreciate how much I do with that finger!
I open this post with this because there is something else (I am sure in the 10,000's) I take totally for granted! I totally take my knowledge of the Plan of Salvation for granted! L is doing great, but asked in her letter this week if I would come up with some cards she can lay out to share the Plan of Salvation with investigators. I have worked on it today, here is a link to a pdf of them and here is a mini set.
I will take a photo of them tomorrow to post here.
I am so grateful for the knowledge I have of His glorious plan! I know that there are generations of family past that are concerned about me and my family. I visited Silly Aunt Susy last week in preparation for the reunion, and borrowed these photos to scan and share.

Grandma Sylvia and Grandpa W.O. are on the far right of the top hand corner. W.O. is the second one in and Sylvia is right below her with his hands on her shoulders. Grandpa Chris insists that he is the father on the right end holding a baby. That means that is my Dad, Val Paulsen in his arms. ? I am not sure about that, but hope to verify that next week.
This Chris Paulsen family group was taken before B and I were married early spring 1989.
This is Grandma Sylvia with her second husband Ed Clyde on their wedding day.
This is my Farmor, Marta Weijland Paulsen. I am so grateful for these amazing people! Love you tons! This last photo is Sylvia's husband William Oriel (we know him as W.O.) died when she was a young girl. I am thankful for him and for Grandma Sylvia who raised her kids alone for a long time! Thank you Grandma!
