FHE last night was great! The theme for this month is marriage and family. We have had a few struggles within our ranks lately, not really in front of me, but I have heard of them. Which makes it harder because I can't force an apology and resolution to the problems because I don't witness it!
B and I decided we would have a discussion from the 7 Habits book about Relationship Bank Accounts and then we would do the Trust Fall for FHE. It was perfect! I am grateful for such a great team! Early in the discussion which began around the dinner table Sam said "I can see where this is going!" So we had him lead out! He compared relationships instead of to a bank account which my Jr. team doesn't really understand - instead he compared it to a battery! They have a couple tiny remote control cars they have had fun with lately. They run on two AA batteries. He did a great job of talking about what we can do to increase the battery and what happens when there isn't much life left in the battery! Thanks S!
We than played a few rounds of "I can make deposits into the relationship bank account by..." and everyone has to repeat all the ways that have been said, and add their own.. it went:
I can make deposits into the relationship bank account by....
smiling at Stephen, smiling at Sophia, going for horseback rides with my brothers and sisters, changing diapers for my little siblings, being nice to Mom, cutting watermelon and sharing with our family, seeing other's needs and helping them, not getting mad at Sophia, going for a run with my siblings, passing the sacrament and honoring the Priesthood, being nice to Dad and minding him, giving blessings to my family members and being sure they know that I love them and so does their Heavenly Father.
It was a great discussion! My two older boys were gone to singles ward FHE, but came home about that time.
We went out back, and did a Trust fall - everyone went!!! - off the rock wall. Jed had everyone repeat "Harr family, I promise to make frequent deposits into the relationship bank account. I promise I will be as straight as a board." Faller ready, then the group responded.. Fall on.
Brad closed by testifying that there are always two in that circle that we didn't see - our Father in Heaven and His Son! They will catch us and we can trust them always!
