How Could the Father Tell the World? He Sent His Son! I am so grateful to belong to the only Church on the earth patterned after the Church He organized while He walked and lived here on earth! I know that the power of the Priesthood that He held was restored to the earth. I know that people of all time had been told that the Priesthood was important, but somehow people don't realize that it has been restored! I know that it has! I know that Heaven is not so far away! I know that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. I know that He established His word while here on the earth, and that He has talked to men through all time! He did not send us here to muddle through alone! He told Adam and Eve that He would visit them and give them directions and instructions, and He did! He has talked to prophets through the ages, including today! I know that Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet. I know that He oversees the affairs of Christ's Church here on earth. I know that with communications ability to reach all the people of the earth, it is a modern miracle foretold by a Prophet of the Lord back in 1981. Listen to President Kimball's prophecy given in 1981.
"Communication is the sinue that binds the church as one great family." Communication is essential in the church, and even more within a family!
Our Heavenly Father created a plan for us to communicate with Him. Through prayer we can talk to Him always!
This month in Primary we are asked to teach the song "He Sent His Son." I created a new flipchart (linked here) because I like mine to be portrait orientation so they don't break my binder. I am grateful for others with great ideas about introducing this theme, and plan on using some of the suggestions by OCDprimarychorister (linked here). Thanks for sharing!
Edit: I watched this fabulous Primary Leadership Training Video late last night before I went to bed and then I couldn't sleep all night! I know that I need to use more scriptures and less flipcharts! So, here we go! I am still using the pictures from the flipchart, and I love the idea to introduce the song by singing songs about those parts of the Savior's life. I am going to then talk about questions and include this way cute "But Why" video - ties right into Families for this year and introduces the Questions! I am printing a big ? and think I will talk about words we use to ask questions. How they are different than the words we use for answers. (How, Why, What, When.) I know that we learn from asking questions. Kids are sooo good at asking questions! They are tender and loving too! I notice in the song that every time we ask a question, the notes start low. Often on a C but sometimes on E. I think by the end of the month I will create a melody chart to show that the questions start low and the answers begin on a higher note. Answers come from heaven. We were sent to this earth to ask questions and to learn. I will point out the patterns in the music.
What is tenderness? I think I will use the Jacob 2:7 and just include:
"Your children, have feelings which are exceedingly tender and delicate before God, which thing is pleasing unto God;"
I also looked at this video of the sign language for the song and am picking some of these signs to use in my actions to go with the words.
I have two new Sunbeams joining Jr primary this week, and I am loosing a big class with lots of good singers in Jr. It will be an interesting transition day.
Today B had to go to Provo for some training for an upcoming course he is leading for our stake. The kids and I attending the ground breaking for the new firehouse in Winchester Hills. Many asked if we were moving up there. No. But we appreciate hard work by good people and went to support the Christensens! They are awesome!
This afternoon we went for a fun hike. We didn't intend on going long, but ended up adding double to the hike because my family is such good hikers and we just weren't ready to quit yet! We came out in the dark. I am so grateful for fun adventures together! Here is a glimpse.
