Stop! Stop! This summer is flying by way to fast! We are already looking at the 24th of July this week!
Last week was Girls Camp. It was a Stake Camp this year. I was called to serve as the Ward Camp Director the end of May. I have been working hard to prepare! I am grateful to report today that I feel great about the amazing things we pulled off! Even more, we had a totally uplifting, beautiful week in the mountains with no contention or problems! We had one tense evening, when the Miamaids were supposed to be back from their high adventure Climbing activity and were 2 1/2 hours late. I was a bit tense, and started to sing my favorite song "How Great Thou Art" which I told the girls last Sunday was going to be our hint word that I was feeling stressed and needed their extra help. The other adult there didn't know that was my sign, and she didn't understand that was what I needed. Anyway, we pulled it off, and had great spiritual feast all week!
I want to remember details. When we first got there, they had a gathering time with a special message about "The Best is Yet to Come." They shared a fork pin with all of us to remember it. The discussion was about holding onto your fork because the best was still coming - the best is still coming, we need to be constantly searching, growing, learning to become the daughters our Heavenly Father wants us to become. It was a great beginning!
We decided as a ward that we would talk about the different Love Languages of each of us. We gave our girls the "Profile Questionaire" then we talked about the different languages and how different we all are. We laminated this page and had the girls put their name in the circle they were in and we posted these so we could remember and understand differences through the week.
The next day we split the group, the miamaids went to High Adventure - top roping and rapelling off-site with Priesthood holders acting as the belayers. They loved it. Our group was towards the end of the afternoon. In the morning they had certification activities happening in the upper pavilion. Then they went climbing. They were supposed to be back by about 3:00 but they didn't get there until 5:40. I was a bit nervous and concerned about them being so late. We had other activities that needed to happen together during those two hours, we continued on with only half the group.
The Beehives stayed and did a First Aid Mock Diaster and passed off their pre-camp challenges which were to memorize The Family, A Proclamation to the World and memorize and sing Come Unto Christ (Theme song for this year!).
Then in the afternoon they had a rotation of activities including a service project making Snocks like this to donate to the police and emergency departments to give to kids when they have experienced trama. Cute! They had them sewn together and the girls stuffed them, added the tongue and eyes and closed the ends. They were cute!
The next station was a Conversion Walk where we heard a monologue from Women from history. We met Eve, Mary the Mother of Jesus, Abish from the Book of Mormon, Emma and her husband Joseph, and Sister Monson. They ended in a grove with photos and an attribute of each of the girls hanging on the pod. Then we listened to Sister Staheli talk about the attributes of Christ and how we should each do all we can to emulate those attributes in our lives. That was awesome!
Then we had a couple of speakers. That night was skit night and the skits were cute. They worked hard on skit night, asking all of us to turn in 5 props months ago to switch with another ward. They had four short lines like "pop goes the weasle" "Pretty Purple Dragons" etc that had to be included in the skit someplace. They were cute.

The next day the groups switched and the Beehives when climbing. That day the President (C.S.) in our ward was asked to go help on the high adventure so it would go smoother! She left at 7 am and didn't get back until late. We had another leader in YW coming up that do so she went. That afternoon I had been asked to be one of the two speakers. I hope I shared the right message with each group!

That evening the Bishopric joined us for dinner, a special stake program (which many of our girls spoke in and did great!) and our ward testimony meeting. It was a good evening. I had to keep telling B that he couldn't go because we weren't quite done with testimonies! It provided a chuckle, and there were many more girls that chose to share their testimony than he thought would! It was a beautiful evening together! B made Chocolate Cherry Dump cake with vanilla pudding and whip cream topping for dessert and all loved it! Can't go wrong when he's cooking! :) Thanks B for being sooo awesome!
