I am so blessed! A few months ago on our date night B took this photo and he just sent it to me via email with a note that said "I Love you"
"Don't Forget. Love you forever!"
I am so lucky!
Last Wednesday was the beginning of Rosh Hashanah. It is a Jewish festival also known as The Fest of the Trumpets, marking the beginning of ten days of consecration and repentance before God. The Jews believe that it is the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve. I knew that it was close, but didn't realize how time had slipped by and the festival had already begun when Saturday morning the sunrise was soooo breathtaking! We had storm clouds covering us, it was the day of LDS Women's Conference, signaling the beginning of the time that members of the Church of Jesus Christ would be gathering around the world to hear the Prophet of the Lord! When I saw the light begin to filter through the clouds my mind immediately questioned what the date was and when Rosh Hashanah was this year! I knew it was time! Yes, indeed, it had begun. I didn't leave the serenity of the beauty to grab a camera - words can not capture the beauty and I didn't want to miss it in my haste. I just enjoyed and feasted in the majesty of our Heavenly Father's power! When finally I turned away from the East and walked downstairs, I found an entire rainbow outside my front door to the West. It was truly a heavenly morning in my home!
That morning at 8:30 we were off to participate in the Santa Clara Swiss Days Parade. It was cancelled due to rain. As you can see from this photo, there weren't too many of us that showed up!
Rosh Hashanah is..... (See this website for more info) a solemn time of preparation for the Day of Atonement; this preparation time was called “Ten Days of Repentance” or the “Days of Awe.” The trumpet sound was an alarm of sorts and can be understood as a call to introspection and repentance.
The Feast of Trumpets, along with the other six festivals of the LORD, foreshadowed certain aspects of the ministry of Jesus Christ. The prophets linked the blowing of trumpets to the future Day of Judgment: “Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming. It is close at hand” (Joel 2:1; see alsoZephaniah 1:14,16).
In the New Testament, we see that the Lord’s Second Coming will be accompanied by the sound of a trumpet (1 Corinthians 15:51-52;1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Each of the judgments inRevelation 8-9is also signaled by a trumpet. Just as the shofar called the Jewish nation to turn their attention to the Lord and ready themselves for the Day of Atonement, so will the “trump of God” call us to heaven and warn the world of coming judgment.

Wow! Isn't that awesome! 10 days before the LDS General Conference, other religions have been gathering for Yom Kippur the holiest day of the year - the Day of Atonement. There is so much to learn. I am grateful to have opportunities to study and to grow. I am grateful for modern technology that make such materials available with the simple clicks of my fingers on this keyboard!
