Sara-lella has Hardware in her Leg!

This cute Sara broke her leg on July 17th. We were considering going to Lake Powell that night, and we had lots going on that Friday afternoon including loosing Jakob's pet turtle.  I had been gone for most of the day, and came home to find him distraught and sad. We knelt in prayer and then headed to the backyard to do another search for him near the place he had last been seen.  Miracles, as we (littles, Sara and I) stood up from praying, Samuel walked into the door.  He is always a super sleuth and he heard Jakob so sad.  He headed to the backyard with us, and within minutes he had found the turtle in the bushes!  We are so grateful for our great team!

We knelt again now in the backyard, and said a prayer of gratitude!  After standing up, Sara wanted to show me a trick on the trampoline, and so I watched, and then instructed that I had to run into town, and would be back.  I barely made it into the house when I heard Sara screaming bad!  It was that kind of scream that you know something is not right.  I ran to the back to find her on the trampoline still, screaming over her leg, holding it twisted sideways beside her.  I carefully carried her into the house, called Brad, and within just a few short minutes, we had two magnificent priesthood holders standing around her administering to her!  I am so grateful for the Priesthood of God in my home!  Brad and I changed plans, carried her to the car, and took her first to Instacare where they took x-rays but didn't really see any problems, and they put her in a brace and told her she was going to be ok.  Brad and I didn't feel great about that, so we asked them to call an Orthopedic Surgeon who was fabulous!  We met Dr. Clark in the hospital but he said if it were him, he would not check into the hospital.  So we opted to just get the CT scan on her leg.  He was super busy but said he would look at the CT and let us know.  We went home, and Sara was miserable.

The Dr. texted late that night - or early the next morning at 4:33 he wrote:  "Sorry to get back to you so late, it has been busy in the emergency room.  It looks like Sara will need to get her ankle set and probably have a screw placed across it.  I will have the operating room call you guys later this morning to make arrangements.  Talk to you soon. Thanks, Randy."  It was just a few hours later that the staff at the hospital called to have her come in for surgery.

Every time someone said the "S" (screw) word, Sara would get all tense and upset.  Brad and I decided he would have those conversations in the hall so she couldn't hear what was being said.  Dr. Clark strongly recommended that they put a screw in to hold the bones all in place.  You can see that the Tibia and Fibia were both displaced right on the growth plates.  So they did.  She didn't know going in that they were going to put in a screw, she thought they were just going to put them back into place.  When she came out the nurse in recovery told her she had a screw before we got to see her.  She was a bit disturbed and worried.  We are so grateful for the miracle that she could be operated on by Dr. Clark and that we got to have his care.  We felt guided and protected to have her taken care of so well!

That very night, I took the girls - Sara insisted that she wanted to come shopping to JoAnns and the Grocery store for some fabric for more pioneer costumes we had to get done before we could leave for trek and some groceries to be prepared for the Sabbath.  Sara was cute driving that cart around the store but was not too excited about me taking her photo.

I am so grateful for the miracles that happened this weekend to protect her!  I was still home when her fall happened.  That is a huge miracle! The Priesthood was here so quickly to bless her and it was so fun to have both Brad and Jed there to help her!  Then the miracle that we were able to have Dr. Clark's help and that he would help us to not incur more expense than necessary.  The miracle that we did the CT while the ER was not busy and just got right in so that we didn't have to wait until Monday and that busy day to do it to then hope for surgery sometime later.

That night Sara's leg really hurt - it was not set right and we all felt that.  She was miserable. We are so grateful that Dr. Clark would get us in quickly to have it put right so she didn't have to continue to be miserable!

We made memories, not what we expected for this weekend, but we will never forget this weekend!  We love you SARA!  xoxoxoox
