Easter 2016

It is amazing to me how even when we have great traditions of things we have done in the past, and hope to continue, how much it varies each year!  This year we had great intentions to continue those traditions, but somehow, we got into life and tried to pick the best, and some of those traditions didn't manage to happen!

This year I could make a list of things we didn't do, but that would not be very positive, so I choose to write about the miracles and activities we did do!

The last couple of weeks have been wild with activity around here!  With six kids here at home, Jed in town working to make sure we are advertising and supporting the positive events in our community, and with church responsibilities heavy on both Brad and I we have to prioritize carefully!

Last Thursday I was soley in charge of the Stake Relief Society Provident Living Self Reliance meeting. I was impressed that this year we should have a night out with Great Aunt Rose. We met in the St. George Courtroom on the Blvd, and I borrowed Bishop Nelson's big bus so we could shuttle sisters in.  Brad drove for us, and we had eight sisters choose to ride the shuttle.  The night didn't begin great as Sister T got there, and immediately criticized the project for embroidery I had chosen stating that just as she had feared, it would never get done! Ugh!  That didn't begin the spirit on quite the right foot. Then I wish I would have organized little cards with the string for each sister all ready to go so they could just sew.  I didn't. I just worried the entire night about them finishing.  Anyway, we shared some great ideas, including a new little packet called Priesthood Packets which are olive oil in little tin foil pouches like ketchup. What a genius idea!  We talked about the parable from President Uchtdorf, but honestly, I had prepared so many ideas I wanted to talk about, and I am not sure what we covered!  Regrets. I wanted to challenge them to do this little embroidery and then challenge them to do a temple apron. However in the final days before, Sister T had warned me that some in that audience would not be temple worthy, and that I didn't have permission to talk specifically about any temple items, although that was why we decided to do this project in the first place! What a tough spot to be in!  I talked about my slippers - she said I could talk about those. But in the end, we didn't do the pattern for slippers as I didn't know if anyone would ever use it.  I knew they would use a kitchen towel, so that was what we chose to go forward with.
