I was called Sunday to be the 2nd Counselor in the Stake Young Women's organization. I truly love my current callings and have defended them lately as several have asked what my callings are. Last week, Bishop Benji Nelson must have known that changes were coming, caught me in the hall and asked what my callings are. I refused to tell him. I have several, and one of those is in the Stake Relief Society Board - as Provident Living Self Reliance Specialist. The counselor over me has really given me a rough time that she "wants 110% of my effort!" She doesn't think I should spread myself so thin, and only give her a portion of my willing service. I have told her not to fear, that I am still going to take care of the needs in our stake there. She began giving me a hard time about that last year when I was called to be on the Cub Committee in our ward. Then in the spring I was called to be on the Stake YW Camp Committee and she really got upset. Then the Stake YW Camp Director quit, and the YW presidency came and asked if I would mind being the Camp Director. I said I would love to, on the condition that they not change my calling over the pulpit because that sister would be upset. So they left it alone, and I was the Camp Director. It was an awesome camp!
All that aside, when the Bishop asked what my callings are I suspected that she was upset because I had too many callings. I simply refused to list them, and told him all was good, and not to mess with it. I dismissed myself and got out of telling him. I will record here, because now a couple weeks later, those callings are all being disbursed because I received this call from the stake. I am the Cub Committee Chair, also serving as the Wolf Den Leader because that leader quit after school let out in the spring and the boys aren't getting any meetings even though we have asked the Primary Presidency to turn in a name. I have been covering there until they get someone - now months later.
I also serve on the Ward Relief Society Committee as the Humanitarian Specialist - we set a goal to provide 75 quilts for Hospice this year, and we are at 73 this week. :) It has been a great project. Many many sisters have come to my home to sew that have never sewn before. I have built relationships with them as we worked together to put together quilts for this project. One by one the quilts have come in, and the stories of them being delivered to the hospice patients is of the Spirit! Lives have been touched on all sides and I am grateful!
I mentioned earlier that I serve on the Stake Relief Society Committee as the Provident Living Self Reliant Specialist.
Then the Stake YW Camp Committee.
A few months back the Sunbeam teacher was gone for a month in the summer so she asked if I would substitute. I did, then they decided to move to where they had been vacationing. So I have been teaching Sunbeams since - oh mid June.
Just a few callings.
So I was set apart as the 2nd Counselor in the Stake YW Presidency with other amazing sisters whom I am certain I will learn so much from! Rena Redmond - President, Stephanie Davis - 1st Counselor and Nichole Watson - Secretary.
In that gathering on Wednesday evening, President Jensen shared some thoughts I recorded. These are my notes:
In my blessing, President Sandvick was the mouthpiece. It was a great blessing in which I was promised that my relationships would be strengthened. We were all challenged to record our spiritual promptings. I was promised that my children and grandchild would be strengthened by my service in Young Women's. That was the discussion after, I don't have any grandkids right now. That is not a role I know yet. :)
I am grateful for spiritual promptings. I know that I have been abundantly blessed! Thank you Heavenly Father! I will get back to recording here those promptings and miracles.
