Sharing Smiles, Harvesting Hugs!

Midweek last week the kids and I drove up to Enterprise to buy some pumpkins.  We set out to pick up just one big bin full.  We came home with three bins of pumpkins and one more of squash.  We were grateful to get to spend a couple hours helping farmer Jack Holt to unload his trailer full of pumpkins for him to unload.  He asked "I think these kids need a real education today, they need to learn to work."  It was so cute to see my kids running to carry the pumpkins to the piles in his lot so he can sell them based on size.  They all jumped in and helped.  It took us more than an hour, but we did it and the soda pop he rewarded them with was the most delicious because they earned it!  It was a beautiful morning together on the farm.  My kids all said they wanted to stay and help him all season!  I am grateful to be not far from beautiful communities like this.

I am grateful - shhhh - the kids won't believe that I am saying this - but I am grateful for horses!  We have five horses right now and my kids get up early every morning but Sunday and Wednesday (because we go to the temple on that day) to feed all the horses that are boarded at the farm 1/2 mile from our home.  There are 47 there permanently and then they rent out stalls for the night so on weekend's sometime they have another 20 down there.  My beautiful kids take turns getting up early, or be available at 5:00 at night to go feed all those horses.  It is so good for them to work hard, to report to someone else, and to do something they love!  They don't get to ride as often as they would like, but who does!  They do get to see the dedication and commitment it takes to take care of the horses and the responsibility to do it regularly.  I am grateful for that blessing!  Thanks Del Ray and Connie and our Heavenly Parents for these blessings!!

I almost forgot, so we got home to have all these extra pumpkins!  It has been super fun to have them in our yard, but even more fun it has been to have to share with our friends and neighbors!  We love to drop them on the doorstep and leave a love note with them.  This year we designed this note to leave with them
Here is the link in dropbox for this cute tag we are sharing this year.
