What a beautiful week we have had in my family. The world is in Lockdown because of CoVid-19. President Nelson has told us to prepare for an unforgettable conference. The days leading up to conference, an article was posted on the Church's main page which is from the upcoming April Ensign about the Second Coming. We read the article as a family the week before. In it the three days of darkness is talked about. Little Stephen started praying every prayer that he wouldn't be scared during the three days of darkness. Then Wednesday before conference, he came to me as I was making dinner concerned. He turned 8 on March 11th, and was supposed to be baptized on March 22nd when all of our family could gather. Then the world was asked to shelter in place to not spread this disease.
His baptism was postponed. We didn't know when it would happen. He was concerned that night and asked how he could get baptized. I knelt down and took a few minutes to talk about how the temple is closed, and Heavenly Father and the Savior would totally understand. We talked about even the temple is closed so people can't go get married right now. He wasn't pacified. I agreed to talk to Dad that night.
I did. As we went to bed, I visited with Brad about this concern and asked what we could do to help him. Brad said he would call and check in the morning. In the morning, we looked up the handbook, to learn that if a font is not available, then baptism can happen in any water. Brad called the Bishop and asked if we could do this baptism in the river. He told him to call and ask the Stake President. We did. We got to baptize William Stephen Harr in the Virgin River on Friday afternoon - before General Conference started.
Thank you for sharing that experience. It reminded me of this verse in Alma 32:23 And now, he imparteth his word by angels unto men, yea, not only men but women also. Now, this is not all; little children do have words given unto them many times, which confound the wise and the learned.
