I am a believer in the power of dreams. I believe in the power of setting a goal, and reaching towards it! I am so grateful to be married to the man of my dreams! I thought then, and still think that he is "Mr. Wonderful."
Together we have always been driven to set goals and reach beyond what we believe can happen. For instance, it was in 2013, I was opening the mail, and found a little thing about a trip to Israel. A few days later, we were talking as a family with all of our kids together (5 sons and 4 daughters) and I mentioned that I thought it would be fun to go to Israel. I told them that I seen this ad that said you could go for a 10-14 day trip to Israel and the price was only some $4K each. I had not warned my husband, so he looked at me with one of those what are you doing looks, but he jumped right in. Before long, he had challenged each of the kids to set the goal, and that if they came up with half the money to go to walk where the Savior walked, then we would go!
Time passed, my kids each worked on saving their $2K in their own way. Some needed an account at the bank, so I worked on that. We prayed about this happening, and we thought about it every once and a while. I can't really remember why we chose four years out, but we knew that it would not be long before our kids would all be starting families of their own. In fact, not long after, Jed got married. Before the wedding, some teased him that maybe he would not get to come, and that he would now have to save $4k if his bride was going to come. I testify that miracle after miracle happened. In the fall of 2016 I pulled the calendar out to talk about the upcoming happenings at a family time. I asked when were going to be able to make this trip happen. One by one, we could see that summer was not going to work. Spring would not work, fall was going to be busy. I remember that September day saying ok, how about Christmas vacation time? How much time does everyone get off for Christmas?
To make a long story happen, it happened! The miracles all fell into place. We were able to get passports. We found a private guide who would take our family of 13 over Christmas! We spent Christmas Eve 2016 in Bethlehem! We walked those dusty roads. We floated on the Sea of Galilee! Everyone came. Testimonies of paying tithing, and setting goals were fortified and then testimonies of the Savior were cemented in our hearts! It was an impossible dream. But Impossible Dreams come true!
I hope this blog is full of miracle after miracle of seeing my dreams come true! I could write on this topic for hours and hours. I know how powerful dreams are. I know that we must dream the dream. Set the goal, do our part to work towards it (haha hence this class) and then our Heavenly Father will help us in every way to reach that destination.
I also have a testimony of D&C 88: 32 which says:
"And they who remain shall also be quickened; nevertheless, they shall return again to their own place, to enjoy that which they are willing to receive, because they were not willing to enjoy that which they might have received."
We are the ones who decide what we will receive. Our loving Father is all powerful. He created the heaven and the earth, and all things that in them are. He caused the red sea to part. He provided manna for the people in the desert. He knows the path I walk today, and He will answer my prayers when I go to Him in faith. I testify of Him. I love Him.
