Freaky Lesson

I am riding in the car, on our way to Lake Powell for the day with my youngest 5 children and husband. They are watching a movie as I try to read and complete the final few assignments I have this week for my BYUI classes.
For Family Relations I am to read and write a summary on “A New Era of Courtship” summarized with the statement “Let me contemplate our speed-date to determine the interconnectedness of conversation and physical attraction.”
It is a 14-page academic research paper on the effects of a conversation on the relationship of people after a 3-minute speed-date.
My next assignment is to read the remaining chapters in the book Launching Leaders – beginning with Chapter 6 titled “Beware the Double Life.” It warns of the prevalence of duplicitous living in the world today, and how we need to bring our lives into congruence, being true to who we are at all times in all places, and all things.
Oh the irony! The movie my family is watching is “Freaky Friday!” In this movie, the 50 yr old widowed mom and her 15 yr old daughter someone switch bodies just before the mom is about to remarry and the girl gets a break to perform with her rock band friends singing a solo part. The irony of all these three interesting exactly in this hour of time, overlaying each other.
The academic paper tells of the power and influence of a single 3-minute conversation on our relationships. How powerful the words we say are.
Launching Leaders teaches how important our every action is to the next, all having power and sway in our lives, and how we should not live a multiplicity of lives, but clarify carefully who we are, and being true to those values has powerful effects on the course of life.
Showcased by the video showing the results of conversations with these two switched strangely, awkwardly into the place of another, to see with new eyes the world through the eyes of another. Especially the eyes of closely related individuals in situations that clash and cause contention with each other.
Freaky Friday climaxes with a note of instruction.  “A journey soon begins, its prize reflected in another’s eyes.  When what you see is what you lack, then selfless love will change you back.”
When we bring who we are into alignment, true and sincere in all that we do, and accept others as they truly are with love and understanding then our lives and our relationships will be carried to new heights! I love that my Heavenly Father teaches me so deeply! I have been taught this hour as I laughed out loud
at the messages being taught in this very car traveling down the road!
