Hearken! and then put in the Effort!

I loved clustering this week! I felt totally guided to find the clustering of President Nelson’s recent Conference talk on Hearken!

The very first word in the Doctrine and Covenants is hearken.12 It means “to listen with the intent to obey.”13 To hearken means to “hear Him”—to hear what the Savior says and then to heed His counsel. In those two words—“Hear Him”—God gives us the pattern for success, happiness, and joy in this life. We are to hear the words of the Lord, hearken to them, and heed what He has told us!

I was guided, not knowing beforehand the things that I should study to 1 Nephi 15:23–24.

23 And they said unto me: What meaneth the arod of iron which our father saw, that led to the tree?

24 And I said unto them that it was the aword of God; and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would bhold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could the ctemptations and the fiery ddarts of the eadversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction.

Clustering together D&C 1:1 along with about 12 other spots in the D&C it was powerful!

aHearken, O ye people of my bchurch, saith the voice of him who dwells on high, and whose ceyes are upon all men; yea, verily I say: Hearken ye people from afar; and ye that are upon the islands of the sea, listen together.

For verily the avoice of the Lord is unto all men, and there is none to bescape; and there is no eye that shall not see, neither cear that shall not hear, neither dheart that shall not be penetrated.

I love listening to the counsel of the Prophet! He is so amazing! I did my study on clustering, and then was guided to the talk by President Nelson about Hearken and Heed!

He defines Hearken as “Listening with intent to obey.” I love that! Listen Marta! Listen Marta and prepare to go to work!

Not just read the scriptures – No President Nelson in the video shared by Sister Jones says “The Lord loves effort!”

We had a great discussion about the importance of not just hearing the word of God, but acting, putting forth effort to follow, and then testimonies were shared about how we each have our own experiences that lift us to new levels!

This discussion was with two young women who are not always great at “hearkening,” in large part just simply because they don’t know Him. I am so grateful for the power of the Priesthood. I am grateful to have modern revelation clustered together with words from near and far!
