Ponder upon the Doctrine leads to Feasting on Miracles!

This week in our study we are looking at the Doctrine of Christ. A few years back our family attended Philmont Scout Camp on one of the weeks when the General Boards of the Church of Jesus Christ were there. It was Epic! It was a dream come true for me. My Dad was a Scouter - Silver Beaver. My husband and I are both Silver Beavers. We have served in Scouting in many ways! I wanted to go on that week for years! Only limited people are allowed to go, and that year we were the lucky ones! That year my husband Brad had just been called to serve in the Stake Presidency and the entire Presidency went to the camp. (Some kicking and not happy but they came.) That year Sister Joy Jones was the President of the Primary, and her counselors were Sister Bonnie Cardon (Now General Young Women's President) and Sister Jean Bingham (Now General Relief Society President). All of the General Young Men's Presidency was there as well. It was EPIC! My fun family got to be there for the week. Samuel and Brinley went out on a weeklong backcountry hike, with other young people their ages, and Brad was taught all week by these great leaders!  The wives didn't have the same training as the Priesthood Leaders there to be trained, but we did have great experiences together! We had dutch oven cooking classes, ropes courses, and trainings/ discussions on the Gospel. Every one of those discussions were on the Doctrine of Christ. They kept going back to that. I have just gone back in both of my blogs, and regret that I can't find anything about that week. It was super crazy because Chandler was getting married some 10 days after we got back from there. It was between his reception and wedding that Stephen broke his femur. That was quite the week! I am sad that I didn't write about the week at Philmont. I did take notes there at the camp. I will find them to post. I learned that week of the importance of the pure and simple Doctrine of Christ! It all boils down to "Plain" and simple Truths with a capital T. The truth is that Christ is the reason!

Last year at Women's Conference one of the speakers posed the question "What is the most frequently asked question in Happy Valley? Why?  haha it is really Y for BYU.  He changed it to be Why? Y is even painted on the mountain!  Why? Why do we do anything? Why should we do what is right? Why? Why? SIMPLY:  Because we Love the Lord! I stopped on my way home that evening and bought everyone in my family a Y hat. We determined to wear them one day a week. funny - about a week ago we were hiking to Scout Cave and Stephen had on his Y hat. Someone from another family commented that it was a great hat. Knowing that he didn't know what it was about, I asked him in front of her, "Why do you like that hat Stephen?" He blurted right out "Because I love the Lord!" Y? Because I love the Lord! Y do I do what I do day after day? Y do I try my best, and keep trying? Because I love the Lord! Y because He has given me the Doctrine of what I need to do to return to His presence. Y do I do my best to do it? Because I love the Lord! I love to study the Doctrine of Christ!

Today there are two words that popped out at me in the chapters of 2 Nephi 31 and 32. The first word was plainness. It is three times in 31 and 2 times in 32. Plainness. His Doctrine is plain and simple. Yet, deep and saving! Definition on Google says Plainness: The quality of being clear and easy to perceive or understand: clarity, clearness, distinctness.

And yet, right after that it is plain, he talks about Asking. Knocking. If I will simply, plainly ask, then... he will bring me into the light. Me, I. We are talking about the pronouns. Who is the pronoun referring to... Ye in 2 Nephi 32:4 who is the "Ye?"  It is Me. Marta Harr. and It promises that I, Marta can be brought into the light if I will but knock. I love that! I want to have His light! The Spirit stoppeth me. I can not say more. I know.

In that same chapter - three ways the words of Christ can be Feasted upon:  1. Observed. 2. Taught vs 8 in 32 and 3. Pray for His help in all things! I love that Miracles happen when we go forth in the Doctrine, power, and privileges of the Savior Jesus Christ.

Photos from this week:  Brinley Harr finished her Associate Degree from DSU.  Because of CoVid Graduation Ceremonies are canceled. Our neighborhood arranged a parade around the ward for the 13 graduates of our ward. She is beautiful!!!  Good Job Brinley! She was the only one with her Associate Degree - all others graduated from High School.

Sara and Brinley are the best of friends! Love these two beautiful girls so much!!!  Sara will finish her Associate Degree in December she will be 17.
