I am so grateful for the gift of life. I am gathered this weekend with all but one of the young people our family was blessed with. We are missing Samuel who had to work this weekend. I am grateful for the gift of creation that our Father entrusted us with. I am grateful for the sacred bond that my dear Bradley and I share. I love being with him! I love time. I love sunsets. I love visiting. I love working. I love his willingness to work hard for our family. I love his devotion to our Savior and Father in Heaven. I love his kindness and gentleness with me. I love his touch. I am so blessed!
This week in my Family Relations class we have talked about sexuality. The title of the section was intimacy, but it felt more like a sterile sexuality lesson. This world is so bold. Oh what is the right word? Matter-of-fact but with only the wrong facts put forth. Our world is so wrong! Satan has twisted everything good and beautiful to be wrong. Virtue is viewed as only our actions when no one is looking. No. It is so much more! It is the state of our heart as we morally look to God for direction and guidance in all aspects of our lives! It is living a clean life because we choose to. Not clean as in from drugs, but yes that too! Clean from all things debase. It is choosing to be modest. Choosing to not participate in even discussions that are off-color! It is living a chaste life because you choose to, work at it, and doing it with joy!
I loved these quotes and comments by a fellow student Marilyn White, one of my peers in a discussion group this week:
"Wendy Nelson said "God-ordained marital intimacy is glorious and will continue eternally for covenant-keeping husbands and wives."(Love and Marriage 2017) I believe that when a man and woman decide to make a commitment to each other and are married, the intimacy of their union connects them not only physically but spiritually and mentally. There is a higher connection when they make the commitment. It is like the elements of a "perfect storm" that make it more powerful and more sacred. The gift of procreation is to bring children into the world but it is also the power to connect us as humans. President Holland stressed that it is similar to a "sacrament " to the lord, an offering of ourselves and our heart and mind to each other before the Lord. (Holland 2001)"
I love both of those leaders she quotes. Yes, the gift of sexuality is a sacred sacrament in my life. I am so grateful and will honor and cherish it for eternity!
